About this mod

This mod adds a new semi-automatic rifle to the game, based on the legacy content Chinese Assault Rifle.

*** This weapon is also available as part of my NIF-Bashed Weapons Mega-Pack ***

DESCRIPTION
This weapon was inspired by "featureless" California-compliant civilian AK-type rifles (such as the Saiga Sporter rifle) which are designed to be semi-auto only "assault" weapons dressed in a less-threatening looking package. The term "featureless" refers to its lack of "tactical" features such as a pistol grip, muzzle device or bayonet lug. Rifles such as these are also semi-automatic only and tend to have reduced magazine capacities.

I started with the legacy content Chinese Assault Rifle mesh and retextured the charging handle to use the textures from the .22SMG. I then added the stock from This Machine, the handguard and top cover from the Light Machine Gun and the barrel from the Varmint Rifle. Lastly, I shortened the magazine to hold about 10 rounds. Unfortunately, I had to squish the receiver a bit, otherwise the magazine would clip entirely through the player's hand, and the reload animation will look weird because I had to use the Hunting Rifle's reload despite this not being a bolt-action rifle.

Gameplay-wise, this weapon is very similar to the Service Rifle. It can be modded with the Assault Carbine Extended Mags and the .44 Revolver Scope. I've also added the weapon to all the appropriate form lists, so that all perks and challenges that affect semi-auto rifles will work as expected.

LOCATION
The weapon can be purchased from the Gun Runners and other vendors across the Wasteland, or found in random loot drops.  Of course, if you're feeling lazy, you can always use the following console command (Substitute ## with the number of the mod in your load order):

player.AddItem ##000ADE 1 ;Gives 1 Chinese Export Rifle

INSTALLATION
Extract all the files in the archive to your New Vegas data folder (which is the same folder where FalloutNV.esm is located) and then enable the ESP either in your mod manager of choice, or under "Data Files" in the launcher that runs when you start up New Vegas.
