While there are plenty of ghoul race mods out there, this mod not only lets you play as a ghoul, but it also affects your character and the way others react to them! Finally, you can now immersively roleplay as a ghoul character!

Ghoulified
This mod intends to feature something that even after seven years of modding has yet to been appropriately created. A mod that actually lets you play as a ghoul in an immersive and lore friendly way. Gameplay and dialogue has been changed to fit the Courier's ghoulish nature. No longer will they be recognized as a human by the other denizens of the wasteland. This is mainly done through heavily editing and splicing the dialogue found in the base game. Although at times it may sound a bit rough and artificial, it is at the very least functional and not extremely glaring. Along with changed dialogue, Ghoulified also features new ghoul related perks and benefits (and downsides).

FEATURES

  • The ghoul race has been unlocked in the character creation screen. Although this actually isn't what flags the player as a ghoul. I do recommend a mod like Fallout Character Overhaul that offers better and more interesting ghoul player models though. 
  • Ghoulified Trait has been added. This is what adds the gameplay and world changes. Besides flagging the character as a ghoul, it also provides appropriate gameplay effects. Instead of simply being immune to radiation, a ghoul players is healed by it and gains a regenerative health effect that is more extreme depending on their radiation level. A high radiation level never kills the player and their radiation naturally decreases overtime. The normal negative penalties of radiation sickness also no longer affect them too. For obvious reasons, ghouls also suffer a -2 to their charisma. Feral Ghouls are also friendly. Lastly, the duration of chems has been cut in half to reflect the fact that ghouls receive limited benefits from their use. Oh yeah, just a reminder, the Brotherhood of Steel doesn't like ghouls.
  • New and changed dialogue has been added. So far only the vanilla game has been changed. I am currently playtesting and I believe that all of the dialogue in the base game has been appropriately changed. Although there were a lot of changes throughout the entire game, they were most concentrated at places like Black Mountain, REPCONN, and Jacobstown. Although not extremely frequent, a lot of npcs will make remarks about your ghoulish state too.
  • Ghoul Related Perks. A few additional perks have been added alongside the Ghoul Trait. Currently there are only two, one that turns you into a Glowing One, and another that lets you restore hunger while in an irradiated area.

COMING SOON(ISH)

  • Change any dialogue necessary in the DLCs. Include other remarks too, if possible.
  • Environmental Ghoulification! Sustaining high enough levels of radiation for a long enough time will ghoulify a human player.
  • Feral ghoul companion(s).
