This little mod makes several improvements to the HUD pickup prompt that appears when you look at an item.

  • If you look at a stack of items, the combined weight and value is displayed.

  • If picking up an item/stack of items is going to over-encumber you, the weight is displayed in red alongside an icon.

  • Where applicable, the weight is displayed with two decimals instead of one.

  • The wrapwidth of the item name has been increased to avoid pointless line-wrapping with long names.

  • Displays weight/value info for some items that didn't previously, such as skill books.

  • Also increases wrapwidth for enemy name, so that stats don't wrap off-screen with the Living Anatomy perk.

Use NMM/FOMM for automatic installation

Manual Installation

  • Place the 'Menus' and 'Textures' folders in the game's data folder and merge with existing folders if needed. No file overwrites should occur unless you upgrade from a previous version.

  • Place 'Better Pickup Prompt.esp' in the game's data folder and activate it with your favorite mod manager. The load order of the plugin does not matter. The plugin can be safely merged into another plugin to save a load order slot.

  • Deactivate the mod with NMM/FOMM or remove the installed files manually from your data folder. No permanent changes are made to your game.

Built for, tested and working with the vanilla UI, Vanilla UI Plus, DarNified UI and One HUD. With DarNified UI, the over-encumbrance icon is replaced by a plus character. Couldn't fit the icon in there and couldn't be bothered to make a second one to fit DarN's style after spending hours getting the XML to work for both vanilla and DarN. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Big thanks to the NVSE team as well as luthienanarion and jazzisparis for enabling untold scripting possibilities. Nothing I'm doing these days would be possible without the hard work of these people.
