About this mod

Retextures the gold bar in DM to be more reflective of the item weight.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
In Dead Money, the texture on the bars of gold you get reads "10oz of pure gold". However, 10 troy ounces of gold comes out to approximately .7lb in real life. Seeing as the bars of gold weigh 35 pounds, this annoyed the crap out of me, and I decided to erase the "10 oz" on the texture to make things more realistic. In addition to retexturing the regular gold bars you get, I have also included a file to change the appearance of displayed gold bars in Underwater Home. If you do not wish to include this file, simply delete the folder "uwmeshes"

Requirements:
Fallout New Vegas
Dead Money

Optional:
Underwater Home

Installation:
Just drop it into your data folder or use a mod manager.

Known Issue:
I haven't tested this on any computer but my own, and I needed to set a different texture path from the vanilla gold bar, because for some reason, even if my texture path had the same name and location, it defaulted to the vanilla bar. I also had to delete the normal maps for the gold bar as I had no idea what I was doing with those, but it doesn't seem to have effected the quality much if at all, at least to me.

Future Plans:
I've made an .esp for myself that changes the value of gold bars to be more reflective of a real life cost of that much 999.9 gold. The cost of the bars, approx 10,500 in vanilla is accurate enough to a modern day USD equivalent that I didn't need to change that. What did need to be changed, however, was the fact that the bars cost then corresponds to the displayed weight of 10 oz, rather than it's actual weight. After some calculation, the bars should actually come out to be approx 527000 caps to match the actual weight. Now, this may seem unbalanced, but it is countered by the fact that literally no merchant, without further modding assistance, will carry THAT much money in their solid and liquid assets combined. If anybody wants that .esp, I will be glad to share it with the community.
