The world of Dust is depressing, unforgiving place. The Courier failed to save Mojave; once a jewel in the desert, New Vegas and it's surrioundings make one long for the safe, cozy environment of Super Mutant- and raider-infested Washington. The lush beauty of nature is eradicated. Food is scarce, the stashes - picked apart, and what few living people remain insist on using all but the very few last bullets they have in an attempt to secure their next meal - specifically, you. In the conditions like these, it's more important than ever to utilise every single thing that you can get you hands on to further your one and only goal: escape.

This mod aims to provide those options. Scrapping every single thing you can for what meager spare parts it can provide - irons, paint guns, wrenches and so on, things that even a typical wastelander would usually overlook. Turn boards and baseball bats into crafting wood, binoculars into scopes, broken laser pistols into laser sights, cleaning substances into gunpowder. Even the tunnelers, bane of the Mojave, can and will help you overcome the odds.

And, besides the ability to utilise your surroundings, you're better prepared to endure them. The primary need and radiation sickness thresholds have been moved (mirroring jsawyer) - the penalties start at 400 and get worse every 150 points onwards.

The pack currently (1.1) contains:

Disabled tanned gecko hides, added tanned tunneler hide, gecko-backed armor switched to tunneler-backed. Requires 65 survival to tan, 70 and
80 to craft armor (leather/metal and reinforced versions)
Salvage paint gun for 1 scrap, iron for 2 scrap, lawn mower blade for 1 scrap. More will be added later, but with absense of screws/plastic the list has to be fairly limited.
Craftable bobby pins (2 per scrap)
Jury Rigging enables crafting weapon mods, those that realistically (or at least a bit hand-wavey) could be jury-rigged. Scopes, laser sights, energy weapon mods. Can't craft polymer sniper rifle body out of scrap, no matter how hard you try. Mods cost a fission cell to power welding/cutting, some scrap metal for fastening and body if metal, cameras for laser lenses, conductors for power upgrades (recyclers, accelerators), binoculars for scope optics, SECs for small power source for laser sights, In F3 Broken Steel we gather cameras to repair Liberty Prime, I guess the optics there are good enough for small arms then.
Hand Loader enables crafting gunpowder and primers at campfire, from some unexpected items; however that does require significant theoretical knowledge in form of Science. With the trade routes gone and the Gun Runners dead, anything that doesnt make the weapon explode every shot it doesn't jam is good enough. Luckily, the combination of pre-war household supplies and the abominations' skin proved to be just that.
2x Abraxo + 1x Tunneler hide = 1000 pistol powder; 1x Abraxo + 1x Detergent + 1x Healing Powder + 1x Tunneler Hide = 1000 rifle powder;
1x Dynamite + 1x Dirty water + 1x Tunneler Hide = A batch of primers (the amount and Science requirement depends on the size of charge)
Time Bomb = 3x Dynamite, Powder Charge = 1x Dynamite, Long Fuse Dynamite = Dynamite.
Mass BB craft - 100 for 1 scrap (1 click instead of 20)
Bent tin can = Tin can, Absinthe = Vodka, Moonshine = Vodka.

Update 1.1:

7 new campfire recipes aimed to utilize and improve what little pre-war foodstock remains, along with... whetever else is edible, really:

Chili Con Canine - "Rover's gone, but thanks to this recipe he'll always be a part of us!". Pork'n'beans, dog steak, jalapeno pepper.
Mojave Beer Biscuits - "The service rifle of wasteland cuisine. Nothin' fancy but it gets the job done!". Flour, yeast, beer
Ol' Lady Gibson's Homemade Bread Pudding - "Back in the day, NCR troopers came from far & wide for a taste of Gibson's pudding!". Fancy Lads Snack Cakes, fire ant egg, Sunset Sarsaparilla.
Wasteland Breakfast Wine - "Can't face another day in the wasteland? Now you can!". Wine, broc flower, fire ant nectar.
Arachnid Fizz - "After the initial sting, it skitters right down your throat.". Radscorpion poison glands, bark scorpion poison glands, dirty water
Bloatfly Salad -"Creates a pleasant buzzing feeling in your stomach, not an angry buzzing in your face!". Bloatfly meat, YumYum Deviled Eggs, potato crisps, dirty water.
Cazador Chop Suey - noodles, xander root, cazador egg.

What remains to be done:

Think about maybe handwaving forging/smelting somehow - people build high-end guns and armor in these hellish conditions SOMEHOW, right? This would enable crafting of mods related to weapon internals, bigger mags. Questionable.
Add more high-end energy weapon mods. I haven't played this any way but permadeath so I'm not sure which ones are actually needed/useful.

Separate ESP requiring Dust ESM. It's outdated(1.91 to 2.0 esp release), so this part wasn't considered a great priority.
Craftable mods for makeshift weapons added by DUST.
Nerf homemade plasma rifle (the thing is plasma caster in everything but name, only better. 60 damage for 1 SEC to caster's 65 for 1 MFC and plasma rifle's 35 for 2 MFC, it's also light (9 to 8 of rifle and 20 of caster) and cannibals spawn with it).
Junk Rounds being useful and crafting a sizable amount of dirty, cheap, badly done ammunition out of tin cans and cherry bombs.
Expanding portable crafting kit with scrapping more clothing into cloth and wood items into wood.
Lawn Mover Blade Spear - 1x lawn mover blade + 2 wood = 2 spears.

A separate esp serves to switch primary needs and radiation thresholds. The first tier penalties start at 400 points instead of 200 in vanilla, and get worse every 150 points onwards. This might be useful, in case anyone plays Dust with vanilla HUD.

Update 13.12.16: If anyone is interested in any significant additions to the mod, please do note so in comments.

Aside from that, at the moment the author of Dust declined a suggestion to release an esm version of 2.0, and it's unlikely many people use the old version. So the separate esp isn't happening and the recipe pack can be considered complete.
