About this mod

The FNV port of MariENB 2.
For vanilla (with RWL) and DUST.
Trying my best to give the mod a little push in the visual department.
Slightly decent hardware recommended.

MariENB is a personal project I started back in 2013, tired of the awful performance (and visuals) and terrible writing of existing presets.
It is designed with three guiding principles:

  • CleannessAll the code is carefully written so as to be as readable and maintainable as possible.
  • EfficiencyOptimize everything without sacrificing cleanness.
  • FlexibilityBeing a sucker for customization, I try to make absolutely everything tweakable.

One of the main objectives of the project is to bury down every single other preset in the world and become the one true god among them all, serving as an universal base for any and all future presets. Nah, just kidding... or maybe not.

This version is (mostly) feature equal to the original Skyrim one, linked here.

An enblocal.ini file is not provided, as usual, it has to be configured by you. Remember, you only need d3d9.dll, enbhost.exe and enblocal.ini from the ENB wrapper (currently 0.278 or later is required). The install instructions are the same as for the Skyrim version, except there's no enbhelper dll here.

Initially, this was designed for DUST - Survival Simulator, but there's vanilla support now. FROST also gets some love in the Fallout 4 version of MariENB.

The vanilla edition is designed with Realistic Wasteland Lighting in mind, but might still look okay with no lighting overhauls.

Please be warned: The visual style of this preset is NOT for everyone, even I have my doubts about it. I can't really do much with how lacking ENB is on supporting this ancient engine, or how old the game itself is overall.

It's recommended to set fNearDistance to somewhere between 2 and 3 for DOF to "look right", especially with first person weapons when using the transparency fix.

There are currently some big problems, be on the lookout for:

  • Overblown bloom: The lighting on many areas can cause bloom to go nuts, this happens very often while indoors. (Fixed, I think?)
  • First person weapons don't like DOF or SSAO: This is actually a limitation of ENB itself. If you really want them to be consistent you'll have to use third person arms with Enhanced Camera. (This should be mostly fixed if you use the transparency fix, although ironsights will still be broken)
  • Mismatched skyline with foggy weathers: One little problem with fog that I've almost fixed both in the Skyrim and FO4 versions. (Should be ok now, maybe)
  • (DUST) Can barely see anything in Big MT during nighttime: The imagespace filter is probably just bad, that area is still buggy. You'll have to bring a light. Night vision might also help. (No longer seems to happen)
  • (DUST) Bad lighting: Especially noticeable in some indoor areas. I think there's really nothing I can do about this without resorting to making a plugin file for fixing it all up. It could also be that I'm thinking too hard about making such an old game look on par with others I've done presets for.
  • (Vanilla) Hot air effect still active on cooler weathers: This is a limitation of ENB itself, as this version doesn't have weather support. Boris probably doesn't care at all about this game anymore, so it might never get fixed.
  • (Vanilla) Sunset and sunrise have too much blue tint: With a lack of support for those times in ENB itself, the only way I could fix it is on the LUTs for either day or night.

All the code is published under the GNU General Public License version 3.

This project is no longer updated, 2.7.0 is the "final" version.
Older versions can be found here and here.
