I tried my best to convert the M1 Garand from Day of Defeat: Source over to the This Machine gun from FONV, since I felt it was kinda shit, and the Day of Defeat: Source sounds/look is better.
- Permissions and credits
Install A (Preferred Method): Separate Sounds
This method will use an ESP to overwrite the This Machine weapon script to use a separate set of sounds for the weapon, instead of overwriting the hunting rifle and the assault rifle sounds the This Machine shares. However, this can cause problems with other mods, so if it does, use Install B.
Step 1: Copy DoDThisMachine.bsa and DoDThisMachine.esp to X:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data. X being the drive Steam is installed on to, mine happens to be X.
Step 2: Activate the DoDThisMachine.esp file in the launcher by clicking on Data Files, then ticking the checkbox next to DoDThisMachine.esp, then click OK.
Install B (Shitty method): Replaced Sounds
This method is if you have too many mods and don't know what's causing Install A not to work, and you really don't care about consistency. So here you go.
Step 1: Overwrite DoDThisMachine.bsa to X:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data. X being the drive Steam is installed on to, mine happens to be X with the one from the Replace Sounds folder.
Step 2: Delete DoDThisMachine.esp.

Install instructions (After choosing A or B): Duct Tape Handle Texture
Step 1: Copy the textures folder from inside the Duct Tape Handle Texture folder and paste it inside of X:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data. X being the drive Steam is installed on to, mine happens to be X.
Uninstall instructions:
Step 1: Delete DoDThisMachine.bsa (and DoDThisMachine.esp if it's there) from X:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data. X being the drive Steam is installed on to, mine happens to be X.
(If you installed the Duct Tape Handle Texture) Step 2: Go to X:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data\Textures\weapons. X being the drive Steam is installed on to, mine happens to be X and delete the 2handrifle folder.
