About this mod

Based on Many A True Nerds New Vegas You Only Live Once and Dont Starve episodes, this mod adds a YOLO and Dont Starve trait, which can be be configured by activating an object in Doc Mitchells house (or the Alternative Start Shack, if installed).

Inspired by ManyATrueNerd's infamous You Only Live Once and Don't Starve videos!

The barge to Caesar no longer heals you, thanks to /u/Dawnx2 - download v1.2 for the fix

This mod adds two perks which can be added by activating an object in Doc's house (or the Alternative Start Shack, if installed). The You Only Live Once trait will disable healing and limb restoration from all sources: stimpacks, food, water, sleeping, healing over time, DLC start and end. This also means that you can play You Only Live Once in Hardcore mode, as it disables all the healing from ingestibles but leaves the hunger/thirst intact. The Don't Starve trait will remove all ways of reducing the hardcore stats. They will constantly tick up, making it important to move as quickly as possible. These traits can even be chosen at the same time, for combined effects.

I have not (and cannot) have time to test all the ways that healing/hardcore stat reduction can occur. I have tested the obvious ones, but if you spot any, please do let me know when/where they happened. If you can pinpoint the script or item in the GECK, you'll get thanks in the credits. See the readme for likely locations of bugs/errors, as well as the scripts used to add/remove the perk effects. I am useless at scripting, so any pointers would be very appreciated.

INSTALLATION

I strongly recommend that before installing you run the command "Player.GetAV HealRate" and make note of that. I'm not sure how well my scripts will revert your healing rate to what it was before you took the perk.

Install manually or via mod manager. Textures and meshes folder as well as the .esp need to go in the Fallout New Vegas data folder. Activate the mod and place it below any other mod that may edit healing or food items (e.g. Project Nevada).

Install any optional plugins you need - they will stack. So if you have Alternative Start and JSawyer, download, install and activate both, as well as the main file. Put the optional plugins after the main file.

UNINSTALLATION

If you don't want to use either trait, you can just deselect them and leave the plugin active - this plugin doesn't make any changes unless you have the traits added. If you do want to remove the plugin to clear up your load order, you MUST deactivate the traits via the MATN configurator in Doc's house first. There are additional scripts that run to remove the effects of the perk - simply removing the perk via console or uninstalling the mod with the perk active WILL NOT revert the changes.

REQUIREMENTS

Requires New Vegas Script Extender as well as all story DLC, and the Classic Pack pre-order pack (included in the GOTY edition or Courier's Stash).

INCOMPATIBILITES

This mod will overwrite or be overwritten by any mods that edit the same ingestibles. Put this mod below any other mod that edits the ingestibles. If you would like a compatibility patch made, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

CREDITS

I included Yukichigai's Unofficial Patch fixes for all the ingestibles I altered, as my changes would overwrite his, and make the two mods imcompatible.

I highly recommend that you download the unofficial patch, as it fixes a lot of problems.

EvanBGood created the Chemist and Chem Challenge perk fixes included in YUP.

Miguick created the Auto-Inject Stim script fixes included in YUP.

Yukichigai created the Companion - Nuka-Cola Quartz - Victory fixFood Fixes, addiction removal fixes and OWB Stealth Suit script fixes included in YUP.

Duchess1 let me know about it and /u/Dawnx2 pointed me to the correct script to fix the barge to caesar healing players in non-hardcore games due to a SetPCSleepHours command.
