**This mod is now under the care & maintainence of Zenreich, found here.**

This is now a deprecated version of the mod, designed to work with Tale of Two Wastelands 2.0.

There won't be a vanilla New Vegas conversion of this mod, sorry. I just don't have the time and the finished product would be very different.

USS Hoodwink is the name of a pre-war covert operations submarine still in running order in 2277. Inside it's fitted out with various handy utilities - some of them original systems, some of them added by people who've run the craft over the decades. Capable of travelling between the Capital Wasteland and the Mojave, USS Hoodwink is the ultimate mobile home.

What's onboard?

Hoodwink has all the usual amenities plus some handy tools to help you handle post-
apocalyptic life:

 - Travel between wastelands using the terminal near the bunkbed.
 - A PA system which plays all available radio stations in your current wasteland (you'll still need to boost GNR's signal and be given Agatha's station.)
 - An oven for campfire recipes and a combined workbench / reloading bench.
 - A Sierra Madre vending machine and a mailbox which recieves your Sierra Madre gift chips.
 - An advanced auto-doc with haircut and cosmetic surgery programs.
 - Displays which show off loot stored in them, because I'm a hoarder:
   - Bookcase
   - Nuka Cola fridge
Both will display items stored in them, unsurprisingly the bookcase holds books and the fridge holds special Nuka-Colas.
   - Bobblehead and snowglobe display
A combined souvenir display, works just like bobblehead stands do, keep reading for more about snowglobes.
 - A trash compactor for unwanted loot, will delete anything you put in it - forever!
 - Ham radio tuned to Vault 101 emergency frequency so if there's trouble back home, you'll hear about it. I usually forget that quest.
 - The Plant Clone-o-Matic, will make you 3 samples of a plant in 3 days, perfect when you can't reach vegetation from the other wasteland.
 - Tons of storage.
 - Both beds are player beds.
 - Sink with clean drinking water in the kitchen.
 - Forcefield doors, for that ultra-secure feeling.

Getting started

To use this mod you need the Tale of Two Wastelands (TTW) mega-mod which combines Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 into one game, it requires fully legal copies of Fallout3, New Vegas and all DLC for both games except the New Vegas pre-order packs / courier's stash. I can't link you to their site here but it's easily found on Google.

It's safe to put USS Hoodwink at the end of your load order, it changes very little of the game besides adding the sub itself.

It's recommended you start a new game to get the most out of Hoodwink but it isn't essential.

Snowglobes

Have been tweaked so that it makes sense that you keep them, rather than handing them in to Mr. House. You can no longer hand them in to Jane at the Lucky 38 but instead each globe gives you a cache of 2000 caps (read the message you get with your first snowglobe!)

Dude, where's my sub?

To begin with, you'll find Hoodwink submerged in the Potomac river, somewhere between the Jefferson Memorial and the Riverboat Landing. There's a little boat on the surface by the sub, here you'll find a dead wastelander who holds the keycard.

If you take it to Vegas, you'll end up in Lake Mead. Both positions are marked with map markers you can fast travel to. If it's not where you think you left it, it's probably in the other wasteland; unless you travel onboard the sub, it will stay where you left it. If you travel to Vegas for the first time onboard the sub, you'll get shot in the head as usual, the sub will still be waiting for you in Lake Mead.

Bugs?

I've worked hard on the scripting, VERY hard and hopefully that means everything will work like it should. If it doesn't, you can let me know here or via the Tale of Two Wastelands site (username Casputin). Despite the subs interior being small, there's a lot of permenant references and a lot of running scripts so it may cause lag on slower machines, I've tried to make the scripting as memory-friendly as possible.

I've had problems when using the TTW Fixes mod as it breaks Tobar and causes him to roam around. Because Hoodwink is so close to the riverboat landing, he shows up in the sub pretty quickly. As this is a TTW Fixes issue, I haven't fixed it but I imagine the authors will fix it soon.

If you want to use parts of my mod or tweak it and re-release it, please get in touch here or on the TTW site (Casputin). I'm a reasonable guy but might be slow to get back to you.

Big thanks to Bethesda and Obsidian for two great games, really looking forward to Fallout 4.

Even bigger thanks to the Tale of Two Wastelands team for delivering and constantly working to improve such an amazing mod, keep up the great work guys.

Special thanks to all the members of the TTW community - especially ChuckSteel - who've helped me get to where I am as a modder.
