Version: 1.0
Author(s): Aluminia
Category: Miscellaneous
Date Added: 6/25/2014
Requirements: None, only the base game of New Vegas

Description

Once completing character creation, have you ever wondered why you only received crappy items? Have you ever wanted something bigger or better to start your travels in the Mojave? Have you ever wanted a complete starter kit better than the one in the vanilla game? Well, look no further! This mod gives you a Rainy Day Fund.

This mod lets you dig up an old safe in Doc Mitchell's backyard. In the safe contains low level items and some pretty powerful goodies that will help you start your adventures in New Vegas - for a price at least. What, did you think I would give away nice toys just for free? Oh, no.

So, what's in this old safe buried behind Doc's house, Aluminia? Well, I'll tell yah.

3x Stimpak
2x Purified Water
2x Instamash
1x Nuka-Cola
1x Fancy Lad Snack Cakes
1x Dandy Boy Apples
87x Bottle Caps
A note from Doc Mitchell himself
1x Armored Vault 21 Jumpsuit
1x Broken Gun with some ammo

After reading that and seeing the items in the safe, you might be feeling underwhelmed. Some food, a broken gun, and a dinky Armored Vault suit? Is that it? Yes and no. What you see is not what you get. You have to rebuild the gun on the workbench.

How To Play

To start the little unmarked quest you'll first want to find Doc Mitchell's old safe key. It's located in his house, hiding in plain sight. Can't find it? SPOILER: http://i.imgur.com/CWc7dDS.jpg

Once you have Doc's key, you'll need to find a shovel. Proceed to lurk behind Doc's house. You will see a burial grave. Was someone buried here? Nope. Obviously, you have to dig up the goodies. Use the key to unlock the safe. Get the items. Get the gun. Get the armor.

As I said before, you need to rebuild the gun at a work bench. One of the parts in the build is a mid level item, so you'll have to wait til you can get your hands on it. The weapon is perfect for levels 8 to 15. Collect a hammer, wonderglue, some duct tape, and an Assault Carbine and you'll be set.

Installation

Preferably, please use Nexus Mod Manager or Fallout Mod Manager for easy installing and uninstailling.

Manually, you need to extract the files to your data folder and activate the ESP.

To install the actual quest you'll need to drop the .esp file into your data folder. This can usually be found in: (wherever you put your Steam folder)/Steam/Steam/Apps/common/fallout new vegas/Data (forward slashes are actually back slashes.)

Now, you'll need to install the .nif files and .dds files just copy over the Meshes and Textures folder from the Archive into the Data folder listed above. If it tells you to override or merge anything, do it.

There are currently zero known bugs for this mod. Should be compatible with anything that doesn't extensively change Doc Mitchell's backyard.

I would like to thank Bethesda Softworks and Obsidian for making Fallout: New Vegas.
