Mod Info:



Skynet can be found in the Mainframe room of HELIOS One. You will need at least 7 Perception AND/OR Intelligence to hire Skynet. While in your party Skynet will make MOST Robots non hostile (tested in Repconn, Vault 11, and HH Tools). You will also have access to Skynet's onboard workbench at any time and the Laser Pistol upgrade once per day.

To "upgrade" Skynet, you will need to bring it to the locations revealed on your map through dialogue options. (Vault 11, Repconn HQ, and Jacobstown Lodge for now. See ReadMe for details). You will see a message giving an explanation and the upgrade will be applied.

While Skynet is a fully functional companion, it is also a Robobrain. It has been tested in some pretty tight interiors, but you may occasionally need to go through a load door to make Skynet "catch up." It also will not equip any weapons other than it's built in Laser, Mesmetron, and Arms.


UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MAY THIS MOD BE DISTRIBUTED IN WHOLE OR IN PART VIA STEAM WORKSHOP OR ANY PAID DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL.

UPDATE NOTES:


Version 1.1 released. This includes the voice, .nif, and carryweight/speed boost by Hopper31, the mod page banner and most Skynet markings by RAVEPMW, and the texture and additional markings by myself.

It SHOULD be safe to do an overwrite install but a clean install is the only way to hear the "say once" lines in the initial hire dialogue (all other voice files should still work).

Version 2.0 BETA available now includes:
  • The new (marked) intro quest that has 5 different outcomes, similar to "Find a Brain for Skynet" in FO2.
  • Marked upgrade quest with 2 additional upgrades.
  • Almost every Laser/Plasma weapon is upgradeable once Skynet is FULLY upgradeds.
  • Skynet teleports to medium distance behind player if it gets too far away.
  • Campfire and Reloading benches depending on your result in the intro quest.
  • Additional wild wasteland topics including one that rewards a unique non energy pistol.
  • Additional perks.
All CTD bugs should be fixed but bugs still remain. Updating to this version REQUIRES A CLEAN INSTALL AND A CLEAN SAVE. Technically you can upgrade, but your actual gameplay experience will feel like a downgrade (you basically go from level "3.5/5" to "1/5" ).

Known Bugs:

Skynet will follow you into L38 Penthouse, casinos, Big MT, etc...
Loading a game inside a cell that triggers an upgrade (Vault 11, Repconn Hq, Jacobstown lodge) MIGHT cause CTD if the upgrade has not been activated yet. It is advised that you not be in these cells when installing/updating.

Player MIGHT remain in the Robot faction even if Skynet is fired. Please report this if it happens. Also, be aware, you may see a re hire dialogue telling you you are already in the robot faction even if you are not. Firing Skynet while surrounded by robots may be... unpredictable.

Plans:



Add actual dialogue between Skynet and Cass/Marcus (also possibly a Yes Man/House storyline).
RobCo Certified version.
Add quest awareness to most faction dialogue.
