Name:  FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting
Authors: Sal203 & xCamoLegend
Version: v5.41
Date: 5/11/2016

Latest update: I added the superior version of reduced texture sunlight found in the upcoming update for RWLE. Hopefully this truly fixes the problem for you guys with bright ground. As usual, load it after FNV RWL at the very bottom of your load order.

When measured against real life, Fallout New Vegas doesn't look very good out of the box. De-saturation and colour filters make the game look as though it takes place on some bizarre alien planet. As someone who both likes the original Fallout games and the outdoors, I didn't like this. What I wanted was a mod to make the game and its DLCs look photographic in its realism, while not being too heavy on the processor. I've tried nearly every weather mod available on the Nexus looking for a solution, but excellent as those mods are, they did not do what I specifically wanted, so I've made my own. Using reference photographs I've created a mod which I hope brings a more realistic look to New Vegas.

RWL was made using, and is intended for use with Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition. The main version requires Fallout New Vegas, Dead
Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road. There is also a DLC-free version available.

The versions released from September 2014 onwards contain more variations of the clear weather each with their own unique cloud patterns, dusty weather, overcast and hazy variants have also been added. It also includes vastly improved cloud textures, HQ moon and star textures and a bucket load of bug fixes and other minor improvements sprinkled throughout.

FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting - Full

The original, full version of RWL for FNV with all DLC. Contains all textures, meshes, sounds for the ESP included, All Optional Files require this to be installed first. Load very last in your load order.

FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting - No DLC

This file does not contain the required files, only the non-dlc esp. After downloading "FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting - Full," deactivate FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting - Full.esp and download and activate FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting No DLC.esp. Keep the esp low in your load order.

FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting - ENB Full

Specially made for use with ENB presets. It is not recommended that you use this version unless you are using an ENB.
The fixes include twilight, overcast, dusty, pipboy, DLCs and more.

FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting - ENB No DLC

Same as the above but for users without any of the DLC.

FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting - Darker Nights

Darker nights for RWL. Works with both DLC and non DLC esps. Load this esp after the main RWL esp. May or may not make much of a difference with an ENB, depends on the preset.

FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting - Reduced Sunlight

Reduced sunlight for RWL. Use if textures seem too washed out with certain texture packs, SweetFX, HDR or bloom etc. Works with both DLC and non DLC esps. Load this esp after the main RWL esp

FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting - Old sun with lens flare

Old alternative sunglare with lens flare from development. It's a little low res and outdated but some users might like it anyway. Install it after the main file and click yes when it asks to overwrite in your mod manager or windows.

New Installation

1. Download the Full version.
2. Drag contents into your Fallout New Vegas install directory or install with manager.
3. Launch FalloutNVLauncher.exe or your mod manager
4. Tick the boxes of either Full, No DLC, ENB or ENB No DLC. ONLY USE ONE.
5. Tick any optional files you want like darker nights, reduced sunlight and ensure they are loaded after the above.
6. It's recommended to change sunlight and night settings in ENB, instead of using the optional files. But you can anyway.

Important notes below if you are upgrading from a previous version of RWL!

1. Go into your Fallout New Vegas install directory.
2, Go into "Data"
3. Delete all esps that begin with "fnvrwlo"
4. Navigate to Data>Textures, and delete the folder "fnvrwlo"
5. Navigate to Sound>FX>Weather>Thunder, and delete the file "nvdlc02_thunderstorm_lp.wav"
6. Proceed with normal installation of the new FNV RWL

To uninstall, delete the esp files, and delete the Fallout New Vegas/Data/Textures/f03rwl folder, and the Fallout New Vegas/Data/Sound/FX/AMB/fnvrwl folder.

ENB Users

1. Download the Full version.
2. Drag the textures, meshes and sound files to your Fallout New Vegas install directory. Don't use the ESP from the main file!
3. Download either the ENB DLC or ENB. No DLC version
4. Launch FalloutNVLauncher.exe or your mod manager
5. Tick the boxes of the .esp files from the mod that you want to use.

Optional Files

1. Ensure your desired main ESP has been installed.
2. Install the optional files you want, darker nights, reduced sunlight.
3. Load any optional files after the main RWL file.
4. ENB version optional file replaces the main file.

"White out" bug: [FIXED]
Users have reported "white outs" of the screen in certain locations at certain times of day. In testing, it was found that  waiting an hour with the "wait" menu has fixed the problem in tests. The problem seems to have been caused by a conflict with the "Friend of the Night"  & "Cateye" quest scripts, and a patch has since been implemented by RoyBatterian using Yukichigai's & JaxFireharts edits that seems to have fixed the issue

RWL MUST BE LOADED LAST FOR THIS TO WORK

"Black flashing sky " bug: [FIXED]
Users have reported a black flashing sky when exiting interiors into overcast weather or during transitions. The issue is believed to stem from the games lightning system playing even when no color or chance has been set. A fix which changes the thunder sound to default type has been implemented. No changes to the playback of the sound due to it being looping with random thunder anyway.

Ground textures in the sky or vice versa: [INSTALLATION ERROR]
Caused by missing textures, ENB transparency settings or load order. Please ensure your download was not corrupted and you have installed correctly everything correctly. Always use the latest ENB binaries. Always load FNVRWL last. Try re-downloading the mod.

Occasionally, the clouds will disappear from the sky during weather transitions: [VANILLA ENGINE ISSUE]
They will reappear after a time without any input from the player. This is an engine issue and cannot be fixed.

Interior Lighting Overhaul, Megaton Lighting Overhaul, OWB Path Lights are all compatible with RWL but RWL must be loaded AFTER all these mods.

NEVADA SKIES, Project Reality, Fellout & other weather mods are not compatible with FNVRWL. They might be partially compatible but due to the nature of mods doing the same thing, important data will be overwritten. It is completely possible to combine weather mods if you have the skill and time.

Mojave Nights also replaces star and moon textures. Install it after FNVRWL and overwrite if you prefer its textures.

Some users have reported issues with Mission Mojave. We highly recommend not using this mod with RWL and using a pure bug fix like YUP or TTW fixes instead. Just in case.

It is imperative that this mod is loaded very last after your merged patch, even if no conflicts are showing in FNVEdit. Not following this will cause bugs.
