Ok, well not really but through some script magic you can't really tell the difference. To lay prone just tap shift while crouched. Once prone your hitbox and move speed are reduced, but you gain a sneak bonus and steadier aim. You can hold your breath to steady your aim further by holding the F Key. While prone you cannot access third person, or your pipboy. There is also a level 10, 15, and 20 perk, which will enhance prone mode, or your breath holding.
Have fun!

Notes:
Endorse if you like it! Feedback is always appreciated! Unless you hate it, then you have to brood all alone!
Hotkeys can be swapped if you have MCM.

Tips:
Here are some of the best ways (in my experience) to utilize this.
Sniping in grass- if you crouch down right in a patch of grass, it will block your view. So instead look for bare patches of ground (doesn't have to be large)
As in real combat, having the higher ground is good way to get a good line of sight.
Holding your breath drains your AP faster while crouched than while prone, and faster when standing.
Requirements:
NVSE - http://nvse.silverlock.org/

Installation:
Use NMM, FOMM, or manually place the ProneMode.esp in your data folder.

Uninstalling:
Use Nmm, FOMM, or delete the ProneMode.esp in your data folder.
I would recommend not being prone in the save when you uninstall, I havent tested it, but it probably wouldnt be fun.

Compatability:
Should be compatable with any other mod.

Other mods that are awesome: Tale of Two Wastelands- Seriously you guys, its awesome, so if you can afford all the DLC, go get it

Permissions:
Do whatever you like with it no permission needed, no credits need be given, though I would like to know about it out of curiosity.

Credits:
nonplusultra - for all his help with the original version.
Bethesda and Obsidian for their awesome games.
Nexus for all the community what-not.
