In its day the falling block (along with the rolling block) was the go-to action for long range shooting, regularly dominating the Creedmore long range matches. Anyone who’s seen the movie “Quiggly Down Under” understands that there’s just something romantic about these things. There’s just something dramatic about only having that one shot.
One of the weapons I thought was a glaring omission on Obsidian’s part considering the Old West theme of the game is the good ‘ol falling block rifle. If one is playing a cowboy character, running around with an AMR is a bit incongruous, so the falling block rifle is meant to fill that role. It has ¾ the weight and only does 10 less damage per shot. I don’t really think the lack of a magazine is that much of a problem considering it can kill most things with one shot, especially if one has the Cowboy perk, which does affect this rifle.
Update 5/12/12: Texture updated and changed the cube map on the receiver to the one I originally intended to use. Update 5/29/12: Front Sight Insert Pack added. To install, just overwrite the textures. Update 6/4/12: The rifle can now be found on other residents of the wasteland and can be bought from vendors. The textures have been updated and a unique version added.Check the images for a hint as to it's location. Here's another hint: it's guarded by Deathclaws.
