About this mod

This plugin fixes Ninja, Laser Commander, Set Lasers for Fun, and Light Touch perks by allowing them to modify your base critical chance before weapon crit multipliers rather than adding X amount regardless of weapon crit modifiers. The perks listed above will act similiar to Finesse and Built to Destroy.

Critical Chance perk fix
Author: Aznmike316
Version: 1.2

This plugin fixes Ninja, Laser Commander, Set Lasers for Fun, and Light Touch perks by allowing them to modify your base critical chance before weapon crit multipliers rather than adding X amount regardless of weapon crit multipliers.

The perks listed above will act similiar to Finesse and Built to Destroy (which adds to your base critical chance).

Most weapons in the game (the popular/high dmg ones) have a crit multiplier of 1x so you won't see any improvement but if you use weapons that have a larger crit multiplier, you will see a noticeable increase in DPS (especially unarmed/melee, lasers). Check out http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_weapons to look up crit multiplier for your favorite weapons to see how this mod will affect it.

REQUIREMENTS

New Vegas
ALL DLCs - optional
GRA - optional

INSTALLATION

1. Choose ONE of the esp (depends on which DLCs you own) and drop it into your Fallout New Vegas data directory.
example 1: If you have DM, HH, OWB, and LR DLCs then use the CC perk fix - ALL DLC.esp
example 2: If you have DM, HH, OWB, LR, and GRA DLCs then use the CC perk fix - ALL DLC + GRA.esp
2. From the launcher, go to Data Files and select the esp that you wish to use.
(I recommend using Fallout Mod Manager - FOMM to activate this mod http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36901)
3. This mod should be placed near the bottom of your load order to avoid any conflicts.
4. Enjoy!

Specific Perks Modified
Note: None of the values for these perks were changed, only the critical chance portions were modified to take weapon crit multipliers into account.

Laser Commander
1. Adds 15% dmg to Laser Weapons and 10% critical chance to your base with Laser Weapons.

Ninja
1. Fixed bug that only increased your overall critical chance by 15% instead of adding a flat 15% critical chance.
2. Sneak attack criticals do 25% more damage and adds 15% critical chance to your base with Melee/Unarmed Weapons (including Thrown Weapons).

Set Laser for Fun (2 ranks, challenge perk)
1. Adds 2/4% critical chance to your base with Energy Weapons.

Light Touch (Dead Money required)
1. Enemies suffer -25% crit chance and adds 5% critical chance to your base when wearing light/no armor.

Compatibility

This mod will conflict with any mod that modifies these same perks. I've designed this mod to be compatible with most commonly used mods such as FOOK, AWOP, PN but I recommend making a merge patch with FNVedit http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34703. There are plenty of tutorials on how to do this on the internet.

Q: Why doesn't it work?
A: Make sure you activated the mod via Launcher or FOMM, check if you are using the correct esp, try putting this mod on the bottom of your load order, check in FOMM to see if there are any mods that may conflict (see Compatibility section).

Q: How does this mod change my critical chance?
A: Lets assume you have Light Touch and Laser Commander perks, they would grant you a 15% crit chance increase on top of your base critical chance (for sake of this example, lets say 10%) with lasers. If your laser weapon has a crit multiplier of 1x, nothing would change because 1 x [10% (base) + 15% (perks)] = 25%. If your laser weapon has a crit multiplier of 2x, then it would be 2 x [10% (base) + 15% (perks)] = 50%. Without this mod your critical chance would be much less 2 x 10% (base) + 15% (perks) = 35%.

Q: How do I know if its working, can I see my base critical chance in-game?
A: Critical chance is normally hidden in-game but Primary Needs HUD mod allows you to see your base critical chance http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38538.

Q: Will this make the game unbalanced?
A: Depends on crit multiplier of the weapon and its crit damage. Most weapons in the game have a 1x crit multiplier, this mod will only have an effect on weapons with crit multipliers higher than 1x. You will notice a big boost in DPS when using unarmed/melee weapons and laser weapons due to the significant boost in critical chance granted by Ninja and Laser Commander.

Q: Why wasn't Fight the Power! and Certified Tech included in this fix?
A: New Vegas engine was built on top of Fallout 3 engine, Obsidian rewrote how perks were handled in the process. The fallout 3 perk system calculated crit chance into your base which then was modified by your weapon crit multiplier, unfortunately this system had limited conditions that be used. New vegas expanded on these conditions but somehow changed the perk system to add X% crit chance to your total regardless of crit multipliers. Built to Destroy trait and Finesse was based off the old fallout 3 perk system so they added to base percentages but Light Touch, Ninja, Laser Commander, Set Lasers for Fun, Fight the Power!, and Certified Tech was based off the new vegas system. Long story short, I was only able to
change 4 out of 6 perks back to the old fallout 3 system. In order to get Fight the Power! and Certified Tech to work in the fallout 3 system, I would have to do a complete rewrite of the game engine which isn't possible and would cause more problems than it would fix.
