HOW TO INSTALL :

Before starting, make sure your game is patched to the latest version (currently 1.4).

FOMOD installation (v4.0):

Before starting, I’d recommend manually removing any previous versions of AKs & AR15s, before installing version 4.0.

1. Extract the contents of the rar file somewhere on your HDD.

2. Open FOMM.

3. Open the Package manager Menu.

4. Use the Add FOMod button (this opens a new window which you can use to browse for compressed archives).

5. Go to the directory where you extracted the FOMod from this mod and double click it.

6. FOMM should now be loading the files. Once this is done select the mod from the list in the package manager and click activate.

7. Once you have selected the options you want in the installation menu, Click "Install".

8. FOMM may asks you if you want to replace existing files - select "yes to all". If it seems to have frozen, that's normal, just wait for it to finish.

9. Once it has finished extracting the files, check your load order, to make sure "AK_AR15WP.esp" is correctly positioned and activated.


Manual installation (v3.0x and 2.0x only):

Do NOT try to install this mod through FOMM or NMM directly, that doesn't work!

To prevent any issues, I’d recommend removing any previous versions of AKs & AR15s, before installing version 3.0.

1. Unpack the "AKs and AR15s version 3-42970-3-0.rar" archive to a folder on your HDD. Once it completes the extraction, navigate to where you unpacked the content.

2. Copy the content from the Data folder to (Fallout New Vegas install folder)/Data.

3. Go to the "ESP_Versions" folder. Choose a version and extract the rar archive to (Fallout New Vegas install folder)/Data. (Read about each version's specificities in the DESCRIPTION section further down this document)

4. If you installed a version ending with "AnimRep", first check your FNV installation and make sure to uninstall any other animation replacement mod you may have installed. Then, go back to the folder where you unpacked the rar file. Navigate to the "Anims" folder and extract AnimRep (Fallout New Vegas install folder)/Data. If you are using a bulky armor that results in clipping with the weapon in 3rd person, you can replace the anims responsible with an alternative version, which holds the weapon further from the body. To do so, once you have extracted "AnimRep.rar", extract "Alternative_Aim3rd.rar" to the same location, and answer "yes" when asked whether to replace existing files.

If you installed an esp version ending with "NonAnimRep", Navigate to the "Anims" folder and extract NonAnimRep.rar to (Fallout New Vegas install folder)/Data. It contains only the required reload anims and shouldn't conflict with any other anim replacement mod.

5.Download and install any patch available.

6. (This point is optional) Go to the "Female_Hands_Fix" folder and copy the "meshes folder" to (Fallout New Vegas install folder)/Data.

7. (This point is optional) Go to the "SelectiveFirePlugin" folder and, depending on which version of the mod you have installed (Rep or NonRep), extract the appropriated rar archive to (Fallout New Vegas install folder)/Data. If you have installed a replacement version, extract "AK_AR15WP_SelFire_Rep.rar", else extract "AK_AR15WP_SelFire_NonRep.rar". Note that Selective fire has to be downloaded and installed separately from here: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/40188

8. Open FOMM and put a checkmark next to "AK_AR15WP.esp". If you have installed the optional "AK_AR15WP_SelFire.esp", make sure it is below "AK_AR15WP.esp" in the load order list and enable it as well.

9. Although this mod doesn't expressly require "The Weapon Mod Menu" to function, it is nevertheless HIGHLY recommended. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/44515

10. That's it, you should now be able to launch the game and use the mod.

If you are asking for assistance with this mod, please ALWAYS indicate which version you have tried to install. For example: Caliber - Non-Replacement - Anim Replacement... That's an important information, given the differences between the various versions.




UNINSTALL :

1. Start FOMM and Open the Package manager Menu.
2. Highlight the mod and click on "Deactivate".
3. If you hadn't removed a previously installed version before installing this one, FOMM may have restored the files. If it does that, you'll have to remove these manually.



FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: I tried to install the fomod but it failed / didn't install completely.
A: This happens now and then, especially when activating the fomod right after adding it. To fix that, you need to de-activate the mod (don't delete it!), close FOMM, go to your Windows Temp folder and delete all temp files there. Restart FOMM, go to the package manager and activate the fomod again. This time, it should install correctly. The installation should take somewhere between 30 seconds and a minute (it needs to copy a 800mb file), depending on HDD performance.

Q: I installed the mod but when I start the game all content from this mod has red exclamation marks (missing meshes).
A: This is usually a problem related to the above issue, when the mod hasn't been installed completely (usually the bsa is missing). The solution is the same as above.

Q: Where is Tasha's shop?
A: Look for a map marker east of 188 trading post and north-west of Boulder city.

Q: My game crashes when I enter Tasha's shop.
A: This is usually a performance related issue. Get one of the optional plugins that either remove the weapons from the walls or relocate Tasha outside the shop.

Q: I have the optional plugin which relocates Tasha outside the shop, but every time I open the barter menu, my game crashes.
A: As stated in the install instructions, this plugin has to load AFTER "AK_AR15WP.esp".

Q: Does this work with FO3 / Will you ever release it for FO3.
A: No. And no.

Q: I'm having issues with the anims that this mod adds (like wrong handgrip anims, or weapon pointing in the wrong direction when firing).
A: This usually happens when you have another anim replacement mod and haven't uninstalled it before installing an anim replacement version of this mod.

Q: I have a Caliber version and when I fire a weapon, it shoots blanks.
A: This happens with some outdated versions of CaliberX. Update CaliberX to the latest version.

Q: Some of the AR15s can't use 5.56 ammo.
A: All pre-A2 rifles use a separate ammo list, named AmmoList556M193. This is not a bug, simply these ARs can't use the nowadays standard 5.56 NATO SS109 and can only fire 5.56 NATO M193 ammo (or other 55gr ammunition). These rifles, ingame, can fire 5.56 NATO (FMJ M193), 5.56mm Surplus and .223 Round.


DESCRIPTION / DETAILS

This mod adds several AK and AR-15 variants to the game.

There are eight different versions of this mod. Here are the specificites for each version:

01 - Caliber-Rep-AnimRep:

Uses CaliberX ammunition types (therefore requires CaliberX).
Replaces Assault Carbine, the Service Rifle, Marksman's Carbine, All-American and Lily's Carbine with AR15 rifles.
Replaces 2 hand automatic animations with custom made ones.
Notes:
  • Incompatible with mods that replace one or more of these weapons (for example, "Weapon Mods Expanded").
  • Incompatible with other anim replacement mods (like "Weapon Animation Replacers", for example).


02 - Caliber-Rep-NonAnimRep:

Uses CaliberX ammunition types (therefore requires CaliberX).
Replaces Assault Carbine, the Service Rifle, Marksman's Carbine, All-American and Lily's Carbine with AR15 rifles.

Replaces 2 hand automatic animations with custom made ones.
Notes:
  • Does not require CaliberX.

Does not replace any weapons.

08 - NonCaliber-NonRep-NonAnimRep:

Uses internal and vanilla ammo types (5.45x39mm, 7.62x39mm, 7.62x54mm, 5.56x45mm M193).
Does not replace any weapons.
Does not replace any animations. For using with vanilla anims or other anim replacement mods.
Notes:
  • Use this if you don't want to use CaliberX, if you are using other weapon replacement mods and don't want to use the anims included with this mod.

All weapons, associated ammo and mods can be purchased from Tasha at Novac Gas Station (see location on image). These should also be available for purchase from other merchants or looted.

Depending on the version you choose, this mod may replace some of the original weapons:
The Assault Carbine is replaced by an M4A1, the Service Rifle by an M16A2, Marksman's Carbine by an M16A4, the All-American by a camouflaged M16A4 & Lily's Carbine by an M4 with suppressor.
The other weapons are added to the game.

2 hand automatic animations (1st and 3rd person) redone to better fit the weapons (fits original weapons as well).

Custom reloading animations (for the AKs and AR15s).

The Anim Replacement version of this mod is not compatible with other animation replacement mods.

Optional Female Hands Fix (corrects some vertices assignment).

Optional Selective fire plugin (requires "Selective Fire" mod by Pelinor) (not required anymore)
