Improved Reinforced Chinese Stealth Suit v1

needs NVSE

needs the original: Reinforced Chinese Stealh Suit

I recommend downloading the alternative orginal color scheme, but that's more a personal taste.

Changes from 1.0:

  • removed obnoxious debug printout of energy into the console nobody reported for some reason. Sorry!
  • Changes from beta:

  • Configurable hotkeys: to reconfigure your Hotkeys hold the rebreather hotkey pressed (default: F11) and tap the stealth hotkey (default: F12) You need to wear the full suit (+ helmet) in order to reconfigure hotkeys. This enables you to use the selected hotkeys for other things when your character isn't wearing the full suit. The only exception is the energy barrier, which will with only the suit equipped (no helmet)

  • Decreased the message spam from the suit

  • The addon now uses it's own file, you NEED the original .esp in order to use it. (It's included in the update download for your convenience) This will make deinstallation and updating easier.

  • the energy status of the suit can now be displayed by pressing and holding the stealth button. (default: F12)

  • stealth field collapsing now disables the suits electrical systems for 15 seconds until they restart, the InGame effects of this are that stealth won't work, as all addons, also the +1 PER of the helmet will be actually -2 PER for the duration of the outrage. (to simulate wearing the helmet without any electronic assistance working, this will also apply if you ONLY wear the helmet without suit, also applies to NPCs)

  • New hotkey to toggle the stealth barrier. (default: F7) The barrier module also adds some radiation resistance if active, and also drains energy from the suits energy storage. You can't have the barrier and the stealth field active at the same time.

  • Visors now don't drain energy, but lower the maximal charge of the stealth suit while they're active. This is to simulate the small amount of energy they constantly need to run. The rebreather still uses energy actively.

  • Increased the AR of the helmet slightly and added a little AR to the visors.

  • Minor cleanups, proper applying of the stealth field to the armor, so a slot gets freed.

  • Moved hotkey handling off into it's own quest to make the hotkeys more responsive in heavy duty situations
  • NOTE: For all intents and purposes, a non-stealth field enabled suit won't get recognized as "powered" and can't have any addons. It will still grant the perception bonus on it's helmet, though.

  • Upgrade instructions:
If you already used the beta, you need to drop and reequip the suit to make it work properly, you also need to activate BOTH the original file and this addon in your load order.

    Changes from the original:

  • Tweaked many of the suits values, making it more suitable for a vanilla playthrough and less overpowered
  • the suit has now an internal energy storage which slowly regenerates over time and powers the suits various functions
  • Hotkeys: Use F12 to toggle the suits stealth field, F11 to toggle it's rebreather and F10 to toggle the functions of the visor addons
  • The rebreather works correctly now and also gives a little poison resistance if active
  • The Visor masks are now only wearable if you wear the full suit
  • A complete different approach to stealth: The stealth field, if toggled on, behaves a lot differently from vanilla: The hard and fast base rule is that the stealth field depletes the suits energy more the faster you move around. Some actions like jumping or grabbing will deplete the field very quickly. Getting hit or shooting will make the field collapse, draining half the reserves of the suit, as will taking off the suit or it's Helmet while the field is active, so use it to get into a good position and then turn it off. If you move quietly, it'll work quite a while. The stealth field only works when you wear the Suit and Helmet
  • Added a script which will ask the player at the first start of the game with the plugin active if he wants the items of the plugin added to his inventory. I touched the original quest of the original author in no way, (neither have I any idea what it involves) so you can play it if you want to get the suit that way, (or if you already have it) just answer "No".
  • Known issues:
Because of the nature of some bugs I encountered, almost the entire logic of the suit is actually seated in a quest script. There's no tracking of individual suits, so no matter which one you equip, (If you have several) they'll always have the same energy stored. I took a lot of measures to make it safe to equip the suit on NPCs, but they won't use it's advanced features. I've already thought of several workarounds and things to make this a little more object-oriented, but I'm kind of lazy.

The stealth field also collapses if you take damage from poison, falls or are drowning, because there's no way to find out HOW someone got injured. but if these things happen you probably have other problems anyways.

Some items might not show their bonuses while they're deactivated. This is by design of the engine and I have no influence on it. They will work properly though.

    Installation instructions:
First install the original mod, then activate the .esp in this archive. If you already have played the original and use it's suit, you might need to unequip and reequip the suit AND the helmet+addons to make it work properly.

    Disclaimer:
I didn't make the original suit, but I think mods of a commercial game don't really belong to anyone. If the original author wants to use my changes or scripts in his mod, he can just take them, I don't care. Also please excuse if my english is poor, english isn't my native language.
