I've been tempted to do that before Naky but if I rename the 12.mm ammo I have to go through and rename all of my 12.7mm Weapons. But with the risk of making you go crazy... It still doesn't exist in vanilla FNV. 12.7mm may be meant to represent 50.AE but it still isn't 'actually' 50.AE. (not unless you change it's name yourself, the engraving on the Deagle doesn't say 12.7mm after all does it? lol)
The issue with naming the round 50AE in the vanilla game would be it would give it definite dimensions, rather than just diameter, meaning you'd need a separate ammo for every gun that used 12.7mm, like the survivalist rifle, which would use a 50 beowulf, which has a longer brass case that 50AE. It was just obsidian's way of being able to add a few different guns that use pistol type .50 rounds, without having to make a new ammo for each. Hope that helps explain why the round is given such a vague name in vanilla
Any chance we could get a possible eta? I'm pretty excited for this.
Also if the author/s allow it I would be glad to help out with tweaking the mod to peoples ammo/damage/ rate of fire etc, preferences. I've got quite a hours into nifskope and the GECK. I could even convert the mod to fallout 3 if it's allowed
Oh, yes it does concern you because the author doesn't take requests and won't take into account your whining exept if he wants to do what you say anyway.
You could just do it yourself. Load the Deagle .esp as the active file and Caliber as a master file. Find the Desert Eagle, double click it, and change the ammo list from 12.7mm to .50 AE. Its not hard and there really should not be so many people requesting patches for particular calibers.
@ UncleSquirty - there's a fair bit more to it than that. Simply changing the weapon from "AmmoList127mm" to "AmmoList50AE" would break the leveled-list integration part - the weapons would still show up, but the NPCs won't actually use them because they won't have the proper ammo. Plus you'd still see the arse-ugly 12.7mm bullets and brass.
If you're gonna tell someone to DIY something, -please- give them proper instructions. This is why I turned the activation tutorial into a sticky'd post on the CalX page rather than a blurb at the bottom of a long-ass description.
But Naky, its has to be realistic, it's not like this is a game with laser guns, robots with brains and giant mutated creatures.... oh wait, it is and it doesn't
Also a little question will there be a mod for another caliber ? Like changing the barrel from 44. mag to 12.7mm ? That would be cool.
That's literally impossible to do without creating a whole new weapon. While IRL it is stupidly simple to do (just swap the barrel and magazines), in-game it can't be done unless you do what Torchblade did with his Desert Eagle mod.
Also - I'd love to see a hilari-barrel mod for this puppy. IRL they're available in up to 10.5" long from the factory, and I've seen 16" aftermarket/custom jobs for competition shooters.
This is how I'd suggest someone does it for their own purposes. Just have a .50AE version, .44 version, and .357 version of the Desert Eagle, and add workbench recipes to switch between the three.
I do hope there is no gold plate option, platinum plate maybe, bit I wouldn't want gold.
But anyway, great looking gun. Now once this is finished, I need my S&W .500 Magnum
Funnily enough, the gold tiger-stripe option on Magnum Research's website specifically says that its done with a titanium nitride coating. Something about the specific process used to deposit the stuff onto the gun's metal causes it to have that buttery-yellow gold look to it.
Granted, a different method of applying another titanium-based finish results in a pink-purple rainbow effect (which I -personally- like :3).
ETA 2: Holy hell I'm an idiot. For some reason I read your post as "titanium plate maybe" >.> This is what I get for browsing when I'm half-asleep. That said, platinum would be even more obnoxious, not to mention totally impractical and even more stupidly expensive. A decent shiny chrome job gets the same look at a fraction of the cost.
If that's a WIP then you guys really make the Bethesda weapons artists look like. Amateurs lol If only Bethesda had people half as good as the moders on the nexus their games would be game of the year every year
They also don't make it overly detailed so lower to mid spec computers can run the game smoothly. Otherwise, I have full confidence they could do much better textures than vanilla.

I want it, NOW!!
(Kinda wish the 50AE engraving could be left out though. I have the other Deagle mod and it bugs me on that one too)
I know you do most of your work for stalker, and for all I know 50AE exists there.
Not a huge deal, just a minor peeve.
I'm going to go crazy if one more person says it doesn't exist in FNV. If it bothers you this much, just go in GECK and rename 12.7mm ammo to .50 AE.
Talking about minor peeves, sheesh.

Will the compensator match the gold or did you decide against it in the end?

its gonna look sexy as all hell

ETA: This is the one I'm talking about, straight from the manufacturer's site. IIRC Mil said the plan is a gold tiger-stripe, and this is the only way to pull it off. http://www.magnumresearch.com/Firearms/Magnum-Research-Desert-Eagle-50-AE-Titanium-Gold-w-Tiger-Stripes.asp
