I spent a great afternoon visiting with Tom and Sherry and others who came and went from the saloon. I first went into the General Store to learn that it was mainly a souvenir shop and cafe. I had a great burger and bought a Pioneer Saloon T-shirt. After that, I kinda slowly brought up the subject of FNV. "Oh sure, we're all in it," said Sherry gleefully.
She immediately started playing a youtube on the two large TV's in the Store of the beginning of the game with Trudy and Sunny and Chet. I hadn't noticed the New Vegas poster on the back of the door when I came in. Duh. Later she showed me a TV show about the Pioneer which I will share tomorrow. After visiting with her for about an hour or so, I went next door for the main attraction.
LOL - This so great. Now I really, really want to see that place
You know, I'm really loving these, Cormell! Looking so forward to hearing more.
I'm so jealous, you must be having the time of you life there
Enjoyed the read and looking forward to more
Cheers
The real Goodsprings seems to be really identical with his NV-Counterpart, huh ? very interesting
Sounds like a good bunch of down to Earth folks.
Let's see some random thoughts before I forget them. The Doc is a retired dentist living up the hill. There is no gas station. There are windmills, but I didn't see a water tank. The school is the original 1913 building still in use. It was painted tan, but did have a large cupola on the roof.
I spent the afternoon helping them varnish part of the floor (until the beer caught up). Then I just supervised. You know, people in the country do watch paint dry for entertainment. At least I did. Tom filled me in on all sorts of local stories including the story of the Pioneer As***le Association. Festus will tell you all about it in the youtube found here .
The pool table is on a porch in the back. The jukebox is in the main bar room. The hand carved original wooden bar is beautiful. The floor, the tile and just about everything else are original. The porch has been redone recently and looks different from the game. Unfortunately Easy Pete lost his chair in that remodeling. He was nowhere to be found (and damn I forgot to ask). The "pool table" room is actually the memorial for Carole Lombard along with the card table where Paul Coski was shot dead for cheating at cards.
Tom mentioned that he had played New Vegas, but not a lot. At one point, he turned to me and said, "You didn't shoot the bartender did you?" I broke out laughing. "No, but I did shoot Chet once."
