It was charming to witness Mona and Niner bonding; even though under a dire situation. I'm sure Ve is just fine.
The ending was such a surprise AND a delight!
Top notch quality work all around right here!
Ve is.... I can resist the urge to spoil for the moment since there's a good chance part two will be posted tonight.
That ending was a lot of fun to develop as there's a lot of future events that will build on some of those details. That's foreshadowing, not spoiling. I think I can get away with that.
And Mona definitely seems a bit more at ease with herself, less brittle I guess? Whatever happened between the bunker and this seems to have maybe put some ghosts to rest? Course, she's still a grumpy butt in the mornings, but the hangover probably didn't help. And perhaps it is just me, but it seems you have done a bit of tinkering with Mona's appearance again...?
And I kinda like your take on Niner as well. I hate to say it, but I have never managed to get him into my game, so the only thing I have to go on is what has been written about him here on the Nexus.
That's an excellent observation about Mona's poise and confidence here, she is indeed much more comfortable with in the same way a feral dog knows its limits and what it can do at what cost. I dare say, you might see more of that in action in part two and things will, hopefully, be made more clear on that in some other entries in the near future, especially the one where Ramona rejoins society.
As far as appearances, putting Ramona in shorts was the only deliberate change for this entry; I'm guessing what you're seeing is that as mentioned in the foreword, all of the images for this entry [and most likely all/the majority of future entries in this series] were shot by Miss Morose over at Sheri Studios. Her visual style is different than [and in my opinion far superior to] my own.
Niner's a rather well-conceived companion and, like most of the good ones, there's enough material to give you a glimpse of his background and introduce you to him, but there's plenty of room for interpretation so it's unlikely that anyone will see him exactly the same as anyone else. That's been a lot of fun for me, as Niner was added as part of Vedette's background to this series. The Niner you see now is my interpretation of Miss Morose's interpretation of him.
You'll be seeing more of the "new" Ramona in part two as well as a lot more Niner, of course.
Well -well. And here I thought you were busy getting all settled in at your new house. And then it turns out you have been out on clandestine business with the Great and Powerful
Well - it surely good to see Mona back. And in full force. Though perhaps a bit more - hmm.... human is not really the right word but........ :/ - than before. And Niner suddenly sounds a lot smarter and much more complex than I'm used to. Looking forward to the next chapter for sure
I am still getting settled and making daily trips back and forth for small things, though life is slowly settling into a routine again which is nice. As for clandestine business, you have no idea! Just last night we conceived a fun little social event for the cast to attend that I think folks will enjoy once it's written and shot as well.
Yes, your observation is spot on, Ramona has mellowed out a bit since leaving the Mojave in The Burning Phoenix. She's matured quite a bit and some of that will be revealed in this new series as time goes on.
I've had a lot of fun writing for Niner; it's been an enjoyable challenge to further develop the character my amazing friend has brought to life in her images and I think I've done ok in writing things worthy of her characters and images, though I always hesitate to compliment my own work.
The conclusion of this adventure will be out soon, I'm sure.
Edit: In all of that I forgot basic courtesy. Thank you, Bernt, for your kind words and support. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Next, I don't remember seeing Niner written as good as this since a certain Clarissa Winters took him in for awhile, I enjoyed the banter between him and Mona, and the revelation at the end has left me wanting more, well done both of you
Funny you should mention Clarissa, I was thinking about Xaranth again the other day. I'd sent him a few PM's way back, letting him know he's missed and wishing him well with whatever he's doing now. I don't know if he ever got them.
You will definitely be seeing more very soon.
Thanks again!
Between working on a disabled truck, trying to integrate an adult dog into the household, and remodding my FO3 game, I've been having to do a lot of ninja endorsing (sorry, folks, I am eternally trying to catch up the last few months but I'm getting there), but I did have to pause a moment and say, "Awesome, Brig and Miss M! This was outstanding, stupendous and (more delighted adjectives to be inserted later )." The narrative is great, the pics are great . . . you two did a bang up job on this one!
Thanks! glad you liked it. I can't say enough how much we enjoy working on these and putting them together. That everyone else enjoys them too is icing on the cake.
I do like the personality's of Niner and Mona and how you write them. And also the backstory with Mona and her "mom" made me dropping my jaw.
And i wonder if Mex will ever forget the ramble with Niner, or at least can forgive him for what he has done.
Once I learned that Vedette's mother lives in New Reno, making it her was a fun little twist. That's where the comment about karma comes in. Just like Ramona and Rose were kind to Vedette when she had lost her sight, Roxanne took in Ramona when she was not at her best.
As for Niner, just like with Willow, I think everyone's is a different, alternate dimension version than anyone else's.
