Forlorn Hope also was the name of the first group to breach a wall during a siege. Normally this group would suffer the worst casualties, typically 100%.
It also refers to the guys stuck out at the very, -very- front - and in the case of the in-game Camp Forlorn Hope, that couldn't be more accurate. The camp is woefully under-equipped, horrifyingly outnumbered and simply too far out to be resupplied in any meaningful fashion. To say that they're up s#*! Creek without a paddle is an understatement - those boys don't even have a log to hold on to.

Kind of makes me wish I could chop the head off of every Legion soldier in Nelson and launch them with a Fat Man at the Fort.
