I like the picture of Dog sitting in his cage -- forlorn. I have to agree with some of the others -- SM is a beautiful place, but so tired of the radios, speakers, fog and Johnny Guitar. Maybe I'll go back.

Thank you. I can't be sure if I felt sorry for Dog more or if Mona did. Yeah, despite Dean's choice of words, it really is hard to be a tourist at the Sierra Madre, even after finishing its story line.

That good old BAR became the bane of Dean Guess all of us has some kind of memory from the Madre that stands out vividly Vivid description of how the cloud feels when you in hale it. Kind of like my dads cigar when I was 8 I came to like Dog/God. But he was very much of a puzzle the first time I met him.

Indeed. It doesn't hurt that Ramona earned her "Machine Gun Mona" nickname with a BAR or used one in the Divide too. I think that piece of equipment might just show up later.

I recall a lot of really nice booze lying around the Sierra Madre. Mona definitely should save at least one to celebrate with later Once I got past the frustration of finding the radios, I began to enjoy the decaying grandeur of the Sierra Madre. Everyone who attended the Gala that fateful night had to be aware that atomic war was imminent. It sort of reminded me of "The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allen Poe.

      HAha, have you read ahead?

Yes! I got a mix of Red Death from the gala and Cask of Amontillado regarding the vault area.

Being entombed was definitely one of Poe's main themes, wasn't it? Obsession, loss, and all consuming darkness are definitely themes in the Sierra Madre.

Imagine my surprise in Fallout 4 when I found a skeleton entombed inside the wall under the Castle. I remember thinking "What's that all about?", and then I found a bottle of Amontillado lying of the floor

I guess there's only so many references that can be made before there is repetition, not saying that Bethesda is repeating Obsidian or anything as they're most likely parallel references. ...just that there's nothing new under the sun, as the adage goes.

That's okay, Mona never struck me as a wine aficionado

Thank you very much. Sometimes I'm surprised Ramona doesn't run away to go on vacation with your girls.

Reading your story, I've realized I really need to play this DLC again and some of the things I loathed about it, primarily that damn collar and the radios and transmitters acting as triggers. But I've forgotten a lot of things about it, and reading your excellent tale is getting me interested in trying it one more time, for the old Gipper. Excellent story telling and images, Brig.

Excellent entry, I enjoyed the read... this place is taking a toll on Mona's nerves, which is very understandable, she needs a bit of down time to regenerate

Yes, I'm sure talking with Dog and his keeper will help her to relax and not trigger any kind of PTSD at all. It's gonna be a LOT of fun!

Phew, those radios make things tense. First playthrough, I remember that radio you can't reach until you run around and past gave me the toughest time. I was so cautious I wasn't very willing to just run through it. Thankfully Mona is a little braver (or more foolish?) than I was.

Glad it all came through with the mood intact. My vote is for the latter, but then again I know some details that haven't been revealed yet.
