  • Skyrim Facebook screenshots

Though they were added nearly a week ago, I thought I would draw everyone's attention to the E3 screenshot gallery posted on The Elder Council Facebook page. If you haven't joined already, the Facebook page is a great source of up-to-the-minute Skyrim news. I would recommend it wholeheartedly. Below are a couple of screenshots on offer: The now-infamous "chubby pony" of Skyrim. A closer look at the improved NPC facial models....

  • New, more comprehensive Skyrim gameplay video

If, like me, you could not get enough of the seven minute walkthrough of Skyrim gameplay footage from the first day of E3, G4TV has released a longer, more comprehensive video with Todd Howard walking the (at times rather jockish) presenters through a full thirteen minutes of video, revealing environments, enemies and gameplay not seen before, including: - Standing stones that function like Ayleid wells, but with powers based around star signs. - Horse riding in motion for the first time. ...

"Hot off the press," Bethesda has announced the upcoming release of the 5th Anniversary Edition of Oblivion on July 12th (in North America). The announcement may not be much of a surprise considering people started to notice the product around two weeks ago. The package will include Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles; it seems the other DLC are, strangely, not included. Update: GStaff confirmed that the other DLC are indeed not included. The anniversary edition comes in a "beautiful c...

  • May File of the Month Interview with llamaRCA

As we have in previous months, here is the File of the Month Interview for May. The mod that won this month was Willow - A Better Companion Experience by llamaRCA. We'd like to thank llamaRCA for agreeing to the interview, and we hope you enjoy reading it. Did you have any inspiration for this mod? If so, what was it? It started with my experiences with companions in FO3 on the 360. I've spent hundreds of hours with the vanilla companions there and knew what I thought they needed to make t...

  • New Skyrim information from PlayStation Magazine

Bethesda has revealed some new information in the latest issue of PlayStation Magazine. A user on the Bethsoft forums, GT409, has a copy of the issue and has summarized some of the information, though it is a mix of new and old. Five Dragon Shouts are described; three have the dragon language names included: Yol Toor (fire breath), Iiz Slen (ice crystals), Strun Bah Qo (lightning storm). The remaining two shouts grant the ability to slow time or move quickly in one direction. Also on the subj...

  • Witcher 2, patch 1.2 tomorrow plus new DLC

CDProjekt held their live conference stream today. At it's peak there were around 13,500 people watching the stream live so it was quite laggy but I could get most of the details. We were promised a big announcement; sadly for PC players there wasn't much to get excited about. I took down a few bulleted notes. 400,000 TW2 sales in 1 week My notes: whether this is total sales or retail+GoG sales but not Steam+D2D sales is unknown. This figure is very good for a PC only exclusive made in...

  • Site down-time this evening explained

Hi folks, We've had a bit of down-time this evening (5pm-8pm GMT). Initially it was thought the network was under a much more potent DDoS attack than the last one but the hosts have managed to get their heads around it and it looks like they have gotten to the bottom of it. It was a DDoS attack of sorts but I'll keep the details secret so I don't give anyone any ideas ;) The "good news" is that (unless anyone want to come forward and say to the contrary) this DDoS attack was not directed ...

  • Andoran trailer (mod)

Andoran is a lore-based mod for Oblivion. While playing this large mod, the player can do whatever they wish. Information and details found as you adventure will be important as you play. Some interesting things you may find are living pieces of cheese and water-walking horses, possibly part of the reason the creators have said that Andoran will show "the dark side of The Elder Scrolls". Every problem in Andoran can be solved in different ways. If you desire an item you can either kill the owner...

  • File upload size limit increased to 1Gb (1024Mb)

As video games get more advanced and the modding scene continues to mature the quality, quantity and size of mods grows with it. Up until today the file size limit for file uploads has been 300Mb as this size was deemed appropriate for almost all modifications that weren't massive texture replacers. I think that situation has now changed. Bigger and more advanced modifications are released regularly now and in response to requests from various mod authors I've decided to up the file size limi...

  • The Witcher 1 mod categories added with new mods

After receiving some strong feedback from a few members of the Witcher modding community I have now added categories for the original "The Witcher". I'd like to offer my thanks to MadBonsai and Corylea for their help and feedback on the subject. To help get the ball rolling in the new section Corylea has been kind enough to upload her back catalogue of mods, including her sequel to the widely enjoyed Medical Problems - The Village Mystery, titled Medical Problems 2 - The Witcher Disease. I as...

The most noticeable change is the removal of the DRM protection world-wide. This gives players the freedom to i...

More news from CDProjekt on Patch 1.1 for The Witcher 2. The good news is that the patch is ready. We want to apologize to our fans for not meeting our target of delivering the patch last night. We will update you when we know more....

  • The Witcher Nexus launched

In case you haven't noticed there's a new Nexus site on the block, The Witcher Nexus, that has been set up to support the developing Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings modding community. The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings was released last week across the world and has received very favourable reviews from critics. The site is fully functional but quite bare, as you'd expect from a new game without an SDK. However I'll be doing the rounds trying to get in contact with the various Witcher mod auth...
