• Downtime today

    Hi folks,

Just wanted to drop a quick notice that we're aware that some people have been experiencing down-time on the sites today with error messages saying the sites don't exist. Just wanted to let you know it's not you, it's us. We've been moving servers around recently and reshuffling our name servers and it seems to have gone a bit pear-shaped.

There's nothing you can do (unless you're comfortable with hosts files, which I won't get ...

  • Bethesda Game Studios moving on to their next adventure

It has been one and a half year since the release of Skyrim, and though there will still be minor updates coming down the road, Bethesda Game Studios have decided that it is time to move on with the main bulk of the team. And for those wondering, in a tweet, Pete Hines confirmed that there will not be any more DLCs for Skyrim at all. We can practically say that Fallout 4 was announced today, unless they have changed their release strategy, and TES VI is in the making (doubtful).

    Tha...

  • BLOG PIECE: supporting modding in totality

It’s been a couple of months since my last blog piece where I updated you all on what we had planned for this year, focusing a lot on stability and a new server clustering setup. We’re now quite close to rolling this out so I’ll talk a little bit more about that and then talk about what we’re working towards.

The past couple of weekends have been a bit tough on the servers partly because we’re continuing to tack on new functionality and partly because traffic is still at a...

  • What PC Gamer wants from Fallout 4 + a bit of speculation

As Bethesda Game Studios finishes up with Skyrim and moves onto the production of its next shiny thing, PC Gamer has a wishlist of things that they want Bethesda to do better for Fallout 4 (as compared with Fallout 3).

There’s some scuttlebutt regarding a new Fallout floating around the internet: the radioactive smoke is curling up from the burning, irradiated embers. Bethesda have been registering names, and the in-game DJ’s voice actor has promised more from him. Could it be? ...

  • More commenting options for mod authors

An extremely underused feature on the Nexus file pages is the “Discussions” tab, which allows authors and users (provided the author allows it) to create different threads for different parts of conversation to do with the file. When you have a large mod that gets hundreds of new messages a day it can often be difficult to keep up with what’s going on within your single comment topic. Bug reports, feedback, suggestions, troubleshooting and general chit-chat get all mixed up in a big soup o...

  • Recent site updates and NMM 0.44.3 released

We’ve been knocking out tiny updates and tweaks to the site since we changed the design around a bit a week or so ago. These updates tend to be small enough to not warrant a news post, but when they build up enough I like to smash them all out in a news post in one big list. But before we do that let's get NMM out of the way.

We released NMM 0.44.3 last Friday that contains some more bug fixes and some minor feature changes. Here’s the list:

    1. New Feature: NMM ...

  • New Vegas got Mormonism right says Mormon gamer

Fifth-generation Mormon, Skip Cameron, has an article on Kotaku talking about how Fallout New Vegas portrays his faith.

He notes that it was "sympathetic and respectful" instead of the "unflattering and even disrespectful" approach that is seen in other media. He also shows how deep some of the research that Obsidian took was, and provides some interesting information on Mormon NPCs.

While the name Nephi will not likely carry any significance to anyone outside Utah or t...

  • Site design update, file backgrounds and hot file cropping

If you’re reading this from a Nexus site then you’re reading it from our updated design. Before I go into explaining a few of the changes just a quick note that we’ve changed our imagemap, so if some images look out of place or things look like they’re in the wrong place you might want to refresh your browser cache for the site. Easiest way to do this is to press CTRL+F5 (a hard refresh). If that doesn’t fix it then try again. And again. If it’s still broken after that it’s either ...

We’ve snuck the latest version of the Nexus Mod Manager out the door late this evening pushing us into version 0.44. This latest version contains a number of bug fixes along with a new ReadMe management feature and the new improved controls for the “old view” NMM mode, the same that the category view uses.

The ReadMe manager parses all your mods for text, rtf, doc and HTML documents and provides them as a list for you to open straight from NMM by right-clicking a mod and highl...
