About this mod

This builder resource is a port of the Sea Caves tileset from NWN, with some new additions.

Permissions and credits
The Sea Caves tileset provides a coastal cave system that has been frequently immersed in water, producing sand-covered passages, seaweed-encrusted walls, tidal pools, coastal cliffs, and coral growths. Amidst the set, there are the remains of mysterious ruins that have been battered by the sea, the resting bones of large sea monsters, hanging wooden bridges, large stepping stones, primitive sculpted doorways, various unique platforms, plus the aging remains of rotting ships that have washed ashore. The set is ideal for creating a coastal base for pirates and smugglers, or a home for sahaugin, locathah,
kuo-toa, and other aquatic races. It can serve as a gateway to an underwater campaign.

This release is primarily a port of the Sea Caves tileset from Neverwinter Nights. Several tiles have been ported from the Caves & Mines set, with a few extra creations added to produce a nearly complete set of 155 tiles and 10 metatiles. Most of the rock surfaces are tintable and a set of default colors are provided.

Besides the default texture, a reskin has been included that will convert the sea caves into a stoney grotto look. (See the final illustration.) This latter texture is derived from the NWN Caves & Mines tileset, and it may prove useful for chilly mountain cave systems.

A big thanks go to Henesua for the ceiling models (external link) used in this set.

To load the tiles into your toolset, install the files into the Neverwinter Nights 2 directory found under your My Documents folder as follows:

  • Copy the 'sea_cave_tileset.hak' file into your personal hak folder
  • Copy the 2da files into your personal override folder
  • The Tiles section of your Toolset should now have a 'Sea_Caves' entry
  • Add 'sea_caves_tileset' to your Module's Hak Paks

I hope you enjoy this set of tiles and find a use for it in your campaigns.

Revisions
  • 1.2 -- Added more tinting options to various tiles and metatiles. Thanks to Kamal for the suggestions.
  • 1.1 -- Modified the row entry in the Tileset.2da file to avoid a conflict.
