NMM 0.15.7 hotfix released

  • Comment
Nexus Mod Manager version 0.15.7 has just gone live on the release server and should be available when you start NMM (if you can start NMM) or from the download page for NMM. This is a hotfix patch to resolve the issues that 0.15.0 presented.

A big thanks to kaburke and wrinklyninja who have worked on a Saturday to get this out for us.

In regards to version 0.15.x of NMM it's important to note that while NMM is now using BOSS API to manage load orders NMM does not currently use BOSS's auto-sorting functionality. That means that your load order is still completely managed by you. Priority with this release has been to just make sure the load order functionality is restored after Bethesda and Valve changed it to accommodate Steam Workshop. NMM does ask you if you want to download the latest BOSS masterlist, but at the moment this will not have any effect on your load order. It will be patched in soon (you are safe to pick yes or no).

If you are unfamiliar with BOSS then it would be a good idea to read up on what it does on the BOSS file page here on the Nexus. Here's some of the blurb:

BOSS (Better Oblivion Sorting Software) will re-order your mods to their correct positions, putting any mods it doesn't recognise after them, in the same order as they were before BOSS was run.

BOSS is designed to assist in the usage of mods, helping mod users avoid serious conflicts. It is not a complete solution to load ordering issues, as there are far more mods out there than BOSS knows about. To properly place mods BOSS doesn't know about, a good working knowledge of mod load ordering for Skyrim is still necessary, for which some research and documentation reading will go a long way.

Once NMM is fully integrated with BOSS you will be able to use the BOSS masterlist, which tries to come up with the best load order for your mods automatically. You can still manually manage your load order, and you can use BOSS's autosort feature to see what BOSS thinks is the best order then edit that order to your heart's content.

At the end of the day it's about providing you with as much help, and flexible choice, as possible.

How can I make BOSS order my Mods with the NMM? The load order does not change after running BOSS.

I haven't had a problem, until now. Just make sure that NMM is *not* running when you run BOSS, then after BOSS has done its thing, fire up NMM, and you should see any changes to load order it made. Works for me so far--NMM 15.15, latest BOSS 1.9.1--of course, right now, with the 1.5b of the game, I've updated SKSE and that's no trouble--but now NMM is flaking out on me--every time I run it all plug-ins are unchecked (save the two .esm files.) So I'm guessing that I need an update to NMM. It's a tad confusing...<img class="> Also, BOSS reorders the plug-ins--*not* the mods as listed inside NMM (in case you are looking at the wrong tab.)

Start off by going to Documents, My Games, New Vegas. Open the fallout.ini file and navigate to "bAllowConsole=0". If it shows a 0 then this might be the main reason for the console command (`) button not working in game. Change the 0 to 1 then save and close the ini file. Start the game and see if you can get it to work. If it still doesn't work try the steps below.

What version of Windows do you have? If it's Windows 7, this windows can be cool but can be a pain in the hindquarters as well to deal with. The culprit of the console command issue lies in the device manager.
    1) Go to Start
    2) Right click Computer and go to Properties
    3) On the top left below Control Panel Home click on Device Manager
    4) Click the + next to Human Interface Devices
    5) Look for the E-Home Infrared Receiver device and uninstall or disable it

There ya go. Should be fixed.

Could someone create a current, and easy-to-find explanation of how to set and keep the load order, please? Which file(s) to edit? When to run BOSS, when not to? When will the file(s) you edit get overwritten?

A link on the Nexus home page would be the most convenient.

Until the big 3 utilities (NMM, BOSS, and Wrye Bash) are all synched up on the load order changes, it is pretty darn confusing (and very frustrating, too) to get the load order right. Right now, I have to read pages of forum posts to glean what I hope is the right info. That makes it easy to miss a step, or get them in the wrong order. I think having one place to find this information would be a useful thing for many people.

I know wrinklyninja, Lojack, and Kaburke (and probably others, as well) have been working diligently, and I could not fully express how grateful I am to them for all their efforts. Don't rush, guys. I have been and will continue to be patient while waiting for NMM, BOSS, and WB to finally get in synch. (Seemed to me like Beth gave you short notice of the load order change, and you all have been working like demons trying to catch up.)

    Got it working.
    Heres the trick:

    1) Start the TESV Launcher (YES THE OFFICIAL ONE)
    2) Go to Files and deactivate all the esm Files (NOT delete)
    3) Start the NMM.
    4) Reactivate the esm Files and put them on the top of the load order (AFTER official files like Skyrim.esm, Update.esm and HDTextureDLC.esm)
    5) Start the game.

    Worked for me.
    Finally . . .

Does this fix the' hang' on launch problem or the crashing with an error/trace problem?

I get the hang on launch after installing all of the STEP 2.01 mods in order using nmm. Game runs fine thru skse launcher, tho I have no clue about load order.

    Win 7 64. Thanks!

    @ SinOfApocalypse

Same here man. I just uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. This should fix all the issues, hopefully. I think the issue lies with BOSS. If you haven't used it before, it just goes in and screws with all the mod settings. I downloaded BOSS for Oblivion when I used to play that a while back and regretted that decision. I had 200+ mods and had to re download every single one of them because it messed with the mod load order and would not let me activate/deactivate them. Even when I managed to deactivate a lot of them, the game would still crash every time I started it.

I am not entirely sure about this but I think the new update for NMM added BOSS. This latest update screwed with my game and I had the same exact issues I did in Oblivion and as you do SinOfApocalypse. I think it might be because of BOSS. I think the problem could also lie with TesModManager as well or any other program that adds mods into Skyrim. I read on a thread that TesModManager (TMM) had compatibility issues with the new NMM and adds .ghost to the ends of mods and at the end of skyrim.esm. I think the best thing to do is to just uninstall and re-install Skyrim. Then just reactivate the mods.

Newest NMM completely f**ked up my load order, and wont let me activate/disactivate any of them. It just freezes.

    Nice downrep too.

My game is up and running just fine. I'm starting through SKSE not NMM maybe that is the difference? But, when I go into NMM I see all the auto update notifications there. But when I click on them, it takes me to entirely different mods that I don't even have! What's up with that?

This nmm messed up my game so bad I can't get Extended Slider Colors to run. No matter what I deactivate, it will not work. It gets to the menu and closes. I've tried redownloading the mod and that doesn't fix it. Could I get some help?
