Unique downloads counter

  • Comment
A new statistic has been added to all file pages and individual file counters across the Nexus sites today. The new statistic, "Unique downloads", gives as true of a representation as possible of the total number of individual members that have downloaded your file over its history.

To clarify; total downloads includes repeat downloads from the same member. So if you have released five versions of your file and a member has downloaded all five versions then that adds five to your total download counter. Unique downloads would only add one (at the start of the first download) to the counter and no matter how many times the same member downloads a file in a single entry it will not increase the unique download counter.

Why is this useful? Well, you might like to know how many individuals actually use your files and how many individuals make use of the updates you release. So if 100 people have downloaded your main file and 80 people have downloaded your updates then you can assume that 80% of the people who originally downloaded your file actually really enjoyed it, and still use it.

Note: the TESNexus recount is still taking place and will be finished within a couple of hours of posting this. If you have files with a Unique Download counter of 0 then please be patient. It will update soon.

Each uploaded file has an individual unique download counter. So if you have 3 files in an entry and you download all three files then the counter for each file will go up by one. The total unique downloads for the entire entry will also only go up by one, despite you downloading 3 individual files from the entry.

First of all, thanks for your hard work on the site, Dark0ne

I don't understand completely how this new feature works. For example, in my mods all optional files have unique daownloads but, as you need the main file to use them I would have said that all optional files should have 0 unique downloads.
Does it count the first file you download as your unique download irrespective of what type of file it is, i.e. if I download first an optional file and then the main file, it will add 1 to the optional file statistics and 0 to the main file unique downloads?

kiwi82mx, there is already a way for you to moderate your own mods threads. Click on the thumbs down icon of a comment and it will be hidden from public view

Still think it should show up in the manage file pages not just in the file download pages.

Well, to remove the trolls comments, all you need to do is contact a moderator/admin...

From my experience, they work pretty fast

I remember that to delete the trolls, I had to delete the mod and begin again <img class=">

Hello, have you guys ever considered the possibility of adding a feature that lets modders "moderate" the comments made to their mods? Since there is a solid rating, reputation and endorsement system, i think that being able to moderate discussions wouldn't really affect the statistics but would allow modders to clean up unnecessary comments from people who is just not capable of giving useful feedback and would somehow take some weight off the moderator's shoulders. Just my opinion, based on the constant visit of trolls to my mod hehe. Nice changes so far, Cheers. Kiwi .

There might be some sort of bug with this.
I uploaded a new file http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=32827 today. At 0133h PST, stats showed 1 Total Downloads, 2 Unique Downloads.
