TESNexus traffic soars 25% after Steam promotion

  • Comment
The total daily unique visitors on TESNexus soared by 25% on normal figures this weekend (12th/13th of June) after popular gaming platform Steam launched a special Game of the Year promotion of Oblivion and Morrowind respectively.

As a result TESNexus had its most popular weekend ever with back-to-back figures of 113,000 and 123,000 unique visitors achieved on Saturday and Sunday with a total of just over 300,000 files downloaded and 2.6 million page views. Registrations almost doubled from the usual number of 3,500 new members on a weekend to 6,100 new members as the influx of Oblivion players scrambled to mod their new game.

The optimistic part of me would like to assume the timing of this promotion on Steam, where Oblivion is being sold with the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine for £14.99 or with the two expansions plus all the DLCs for £19.99, is a precursor to the announcement of the sequel to Oblivion that is hopefully The Elder Scrolls V at E3 some time in the coming week.

Whatever way you look at it; the site held out. You've got to be thankful for that. I know I am, because I was away this weekend.

That's incredible, the more oblivion players the better! 6,000 registered members in a week? WOW!

I assume the TES games will have a discount at some point during the Steam Summer Sale that is going on now, so that might give the community another smaller boost.

Heh, hey folks. I'm itching for a TES 5 as much as any one, but even if TES 5 never happens, lets look at what we do got.

A fantastic community here at the Nexus, all the help and support in the world for modders and mod users new and old, thousands of mods to download whatever your flavour, screenshot sections to show your stunning images in, a forum full of helpfull friendly people to natter with and the backup of a solid, reliable and dependable team of moderators to keep everything ticking smoothly, and then theres Robin, aka Dark0ne, without whom none of us would be here on the Nexus, theres only one thing you can say to the guy, thanks man, you rock.

For me, the Nexus is the Eldar Scrolls, anyone care to second my emotion?

Damn, that bottles empty, now wheres me corkscrew?

    hehe, a nice speech!

But don't lose hope about a 2010 announcement yet.
Bethesda have said they don't like to announce games on E3, so wait till QuakeCon in August: Then you can jump into the sky in joy because of the TES V Announcement!

    - Always been an optimist, and will always be!

it's been a long time since I've played oblivion, but i almost cry because i miss the world of Tamriel... it's beautiful.. majestic... but i don't think we'll see it till 2020 at this rate.. i try to play oblivion, but i get depressed because i think the elder scrolls is dead.. i hope it's not..
right now would be a good time to announce tes 5, Bethesda... especially since you hooked quiiiite a few people since this whole steam thing..
You make beautiful rpg's.. that, when i play, i almost cry out of sheer happiness, i almost smell the wine, wood, and blood, musk, and rotting corpses in battle.. i almost feel the heavy armor clank around my body.. i almost feel the pain when i get hit or the flames or the frost...

please bethesda. ot's a beautiful series you're making... don't let it go to waste... and this time... don't do it for money.. do it for tamriel! immersion! gameplay! content! and make us fans, and yourselves proud!

Be patient for a week or two and the traffic will die down some. Many of the new members will finish or get bored with Oblivion and move on to another game. Some will stay and become productive members and a few will become addicts like me. Some of those will make new mods.
