Favourite file and author tracking now live

  • Comment
After a couple of weeks of procrastination I have finally gotten around to writing the all new favourite file and member tracking system for TESNexus. At its core this new site feature is designed to help members of the site keep track of the latest updates made to their favourite files through a semi-Facebook style news feed style system.

New "Track file" and "Track member" links have been added to file pages and member profiles respectively (denoted by a
icon) that allow you to quickly add files and members to your favourites. A dynamic feed is then created for you on the file tracking and member tracking pages that shows all the latest actions that have been performed on the files or by the members in the file database. Currently the only actions that are tracked are the same actions tracked on the updates today page (new files, file edits, attribute changes, new images, new mirrors, new readmes). You can filter which updates you would like to see, also, so you can choose to only see file updates.

It's important to note that member tracking will only track the actions listed above; it won't track comments or forum posts that specific members make or images they upload in the image share database.

So say I'm tracking a certain mod and the author updates that particular mod, then, will I get a notification that there's a new version available? Is this how this feature works?

Thank you so much!! I just discovered the feature yesterday. It's brilliant that you still had the info from my previous member tracking. I hope you are having a great summer, you just made mine better.

just a suggestion.. i think it would be really cool if one could see the names of or at least how many members are tracking a certain file. this is something id be really excited about biggrin.gif. anyway i still really like this feature as is, so good job! VERY useful! (still, would be twice as awesome with said feature smile.gif )

Yup, the thought was there to do this but I'm trying to limit the number of calls made to the database on high traffic pages, like the file pages. The web server is already creeking under my poor code and adding in even more calls on these pages is only going to make it worse <img class=">

I like yoyohobo6650s idea about seeing how many members track a file/author.

I also have a suggestion could you introduce the option of not displaying the main image for a mod (if it has one) in the tracking center? I don't know, maybe you could get a more compact display that way (?)

But anyway, image or not I like the new feature <img class=">

Thanks for the new addition to the site this addition and the addition to read the readme file before you download save a ton of time and bandwidth.
