Supporter system is live!

  • Comment
Hi all,

The new Supporter system is now running and live and people have already begun to help out! It is greatly appreciated and I respect the kindness and willingness of this community to support me in helping to provide the resources that I do.

For those of you who don't know there are now two types of accounts for members. The first is the normal "free" account that does everything it currently does. Nothing has been changed and you can still download (albeit slowly!) from the servers as per usual. The second is a new "Supporter" membership that provides you with an upgraded account complete with a faster download server, no ads/caching and some other cool features like the file tracker (which, as the name suggests, tracks file updates for you!). This upgrade is provided in return for a small donation to the site so we can afford new hardware and bandwidth to keep the site going to a good standard.

The Supporter system was introduced so that I could say thank you back to those people who are generous enough to help me so please don't shun it thinking it's a step in the wrong direction; because it's a step in the necessary direction if I want to keep running this site, and more, to a stable and top-notch standard.

If you're not interested in being a Supporter (I don't see why you wouldn't be!) but would still like to donate some money to help out there is also a donation form.

For more information on the new system and how to upgrade please click on!

You need to have javascript / redirects enabled in your browser since the login system needs it.

I use Firefox. How do I ensure redirects are enabled? I have never had a problem being redirected before.

I have alos tried this in IE. In that browser I can log into the members area, but I am unable to visit any of the pages from the members area. Each page returns the smae 404 error.

This is very frustrating. I have never experienced this problem with any other site.

EDIT: OK forget the above. I have tracked down the source of the problem to my firewall. ZoneAlarm was being overly sensitive. Mainly because third party cookies are involved!

At http://members.gamingsource.net/members/ , when you're logged in, you should see a link on the right side that says something about TopUp or something like that.

How do I beome a supporter? I have been going around in circles trying to get this sorted out. It appears to me that I can become a supporter if I create a new account, which obviously I do not wnat to do. I can not find any links for existing members to become supporters.

Seems ok now, I did have to tell Firefox to let cookies through again, it decided that any cookies I delete get added to some sort of banned cookie list neer to be seen again. Guess the bugs are on my end ::snif::
    Anyway, thanks again!

The system still says you're a subscriber until 10 Oct 2006, make sure you're signed into the right account and refresh your browser cache then email me if the problem persists <img class=">
