About this mod

Start the game as Fargoth, a commoner from Seyda Neen. No longer are you the Nerevarine, bound to the main quest. Forge your own destiny!

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Have you ever wanted to just say "bugger all!" to the main quest? Do you just want to play the game as an outlander who isn't quite the "Nerevarine"? Someone ordinary, unimportant? A fresh start? Well, you're in luck! Fargoth Alternate Start allows you to play Fargoth (On a New Game), and experience the world through his eyes. No longer are you bound to save the world... that job is for someone else. Considering that most of the content in Morrowind is in exploration and side quests, this presents a unique opportunity to feel GOOD about ignoring the fact that you must save the world. You're Fargoth, a nobody. Make a name for yourself... don't have the game make it for you.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
♦ You are Fargoth. You get to be a Commoner (Or a custom class, showing a paradigm shift in Fargoth's way of thinking), and you have full control of Fargoth without need for loading a Save Game. You just plug in an .esp. Character Generation is jury-rigged to occur in an immersive way, starting in Fargoth's House instead of the Prison Ship.

♦ You can no longer partake in the main quest, as you are not the Nerevarine. As well, you can't do the backpath. You are simply 'not' the Nerevarine, and you can't even fathom what goes on beneath Red Mountain. You will never defeat Dagoth Ur's final form, and it is hopeless to try. You are free to forge your own destiny. Perhaps, one day... the Nerevarine will arrive on that boat, and save Vvardenfell. But today is not that day.

♦ You will own Fargoth's House, and you will have all the possessions that Fargoth does. You also own a house key. Companions that you bring into Fargoth's house recognize all of the objects as yours, and will not react to you taking items from your own home.

♦ Most NPCs in Seyda Neen will react to you slightly differently, and some of the quests that have strange dialogue (Welcoming you to Seyda Neen) have been edited. Arille will regard you as a friend, while Hrisskar will react to you as a foe.

♦ You can no longer take Hrisskar Flat-Foot's quest to find your own hiding spot.

♦ You may now store items in the Treestump in the middle of Seyda Neen, as Fargoth does.

Version 1.1: Removes the opening movie, thusly removing more references to you being the Nerevarine when you are, in fact, Fargoth.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Version 1.1 Installation: If you have a video titled "mw_intro.bik" in your "Data Files -> Video" folder, rename it to "mw_introOld.bik" BEFORE you install this mod. This mod removes the intro movie, as Fargoth is not the Nerevarine. If there is no file, don't worry about it and install like normal.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Version 1.1 Uninstallation: If you want to get your intro movie back, delete "mw_intro.bik" from your Video folder in Data Files, and rename "mw_introOld.bik to "mw.intro.bik".

Version 1.5 Uninstallation: Remove every splash screen from your Splash folder in Data Files with the title of Fargoth (Such as Splash_Fargoth.tga).

Version 1.2: Updates Dagoth Ur so that he simply cackles at Fargoth and attacks him instead of any other relevant dialogue specific for the Nerevarine. You can defeat Dagoth Ur's false form, but the doors to the Heart Chamber will not open for you. Dagoth Ur will appear again eventually in the cavern, ready to meet the Nerevarine. This update now changes all ambient dialouge in the Greeting 9 slot representing Seyda Neen citizens to represent Fargoth living there. They no longer welcome you to Seyda Neen, as you already live there.

Version 1.3: I combed through Almalexia's dialogue with a moderate amount of thoroughness, and I erased all traces of Almalexia recognizing your character as the Nerevarine. Instead, she sees you as a replacement to Lord Nerevar, husband of Ayem. You become her champion, and fill the void that Lord Nerevar once filled. She even uses Trueflame as a badge of your new office as her champion, the "Replacement", as it were. In short, you're just some guy who happened to impress Almalexia with your talents. You aren't the Nerevarine, and Ayem does not recognize you as such.

Version 1.4: I deleted some more pre-Main Quest references to you being the Nerevarine, primarily of which was some Almalexia dialogue I missed the first time. My apologies!

Version 1.5: This adds Fargoth Splash Screens courtesy of KonradMW. These splash screens show off Fargoth himself, in his vanilla clothes. Half of all splash screens will now be Fargoth, meaning that you will see the screen half of the time when loading places.

Version 1.6: Fixes the Hollow Treestump stuff. Firstly, you can store a massive amount of items in it (Unlike in Version 1.5 and before, where you could only store items that weighed nothing like gold). Secondly, the treestump is now consistent with the starting dialogue in that you looted the items out of it beforehand.

Bugs/Notes:

♦ When in character creation, do NOT use the 'back' function. While it may be humorous to discover that I've made a contingency where on 'race menu' you can only choose a Bosmer with Fargoth's face, it may lead to a bug where you can lose your Birthsign. When making Fargoth, be absolutely sure to just make your decisions final, only worrying about them on the Stat Review page. This is a hard-coded bug that I can't fix.

♦ There are three GMSTs in this mod. These are INTENTIONAL GMSTs, and do not break the mod. They also do not affect anything major, and will not break your game.

♦ This mod does not remove the introductory cutscene. My advice is to ignore/skip it, or find a way to remove it.  Updated to Version 1.1 to fix this issue.

♦ There are many, many lines of dialogue of NPCs wondering if you are "New" to Morrowind in general. We can assume that you've only recently moved into Morrowind, perhaps only in the past few weeks/months. Future updates may work to remove these references, but for now they are not *too* bad (It may actually help account for the fact that he is new to Vvardenfell, and does not know anyone in it except those in Seyda Neen, like the Player might).

Special thanks to Greatness7. I made a horrible script, Greatness7 showed me how bad it was by showing me one with about a million less problems.

Special thanks to SpaceDevo, who has suggested the 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.5 updates!

(http://mw.modhistory.com/download-80-10484) Special thanks to the creator of this file, whom has fallen off the face of the earth following the death of PlanetElderScrolls. He made a 1 second long video of nothing to disable the opening movie. Thank you!

Special thanks to KonradMW, who made the Fargoth Splash Screens now featured in this mod.
