I am no longer playing Morrowind. So I am not maintaining this mod anymore. Permissions on the mod has always been open. If anybody wants to take over maintaining it, please message me and I'll give you access, or create your own version using it as a base.

Introduction

This is a quest mod with a highly unique reward at the end, custom scripted and built. I am deliberately keeping the details about the quest in the readme limited. If you want to know more about the reward - see SPOILERS.txt.
This is the first public release of the mod, I've tested every piece of functionality but there could be bugs. Please report any you find and I'll do my best to fix them.
I tried to keep mod lore-friendly, tying it into an unused part of the existing lore. The final reward is not in the lore but written in, in a lore-friendly way. I went to great effort to keep the reward balanced but, nevertheless, worthwhile and powerful.

OpenMW Installation:
  • Simply extract the archive somewhere
  • Add the directory to your openmw.cfg in the data= section
  • Run openmw-launcher and enable redguard_rug.omwaddon

Vanilla Morrowind:
  • It is possible the mod will work if you rename redguard_rug.omwaddon to redguard_rug.esp and copy the whole mod directory into your Data Files directory, then enable the ESP. However I have not tested it and I cannot confirm if it works.

Requirements:
  • This mod requires both Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansions to be installed and enabled as I used some of the scripting functions they added to the game.

How to start the quest:
  • If this is a new character using the normal start - you will already have a topic "The redguard rug", simply ask random people about it until one gives you a clue.
  • If this is an existing character, or you used a mod like chargen-revamped and started elsewhere, then head back to Seyda Neen and go talk to Socucious Ergalla in the census and excise office.
  • Then the topic will be available to start the quest.

Conflicts/Compatibility:
The quest should be compatible with almost all others unless they happen to remove one of the game NPCs used by this one. If you haven't completed the Fargoth quests and want to you should do so before beginning this quest (people usually do them right at the beginning of the game for some early gold so it's unlikely) as this quest will make it impossible to complete them later.
I've tested a complete playthrough on a heavily modded game which included Morrowind Rebirth and found no incompatibilities there.

Help wanted:
I am no 3D artist, and I used pre-existing assets for this (though I used my own copies to make modifying them easy) - the trouble is that a key asset has no
textures or colision mesh from the bottom - but as used in this mod the bottom is no longer hidden by default. Would love to get some help from a 3D artist to
improve the meshes, and possibly add a custom texture. If you really want to make it cool, animatting the model would be awesome, if you give me the info regarding the animation group names, I will update the code to use it. Post a message if you want to assist.
