About this mod

This mod is kind of an expansion to my Hlaalu Normal Mapped, but you can use this without that pack of course. You can download a normal mapped and non-normal mapped version.

Info about texture pack

Hi!

This texture pack replaces almost all the guar skin banners thrughout Vvardenfell. I started doing these when doing my Hlaalu architecture replacer, but realised that these are all over Vvardenfell, so it made more sense to put them in a separate pack. It also replaces two rope textures that are associated with the banners, and finally a sunshade thing made from the same material as the banners (guar skin leather).

There are two versions available: One with normal maps (for OpenMW only) and one without (for vanilla MW and OpenMW). The normal maps are only supported in OpenMW. If you don't have OpenMW or simply prefer the banners without the normal maps, download the version without normal maps instead. Otherwise you might end up filling your hard drive with a few megabytes of normal maps you never use (!!!).

I recommend this texture pack to be combined with my Vivec and Hlaalu packs.

So anyway, to use this with normal maps, you need OpenMWat least version 0.39.0, which is, at the time of writing, the latest version. It's technically possible to use normal maps with some beta version of MGE, but I'm not interested in supporting that myself.

To install (good, OpenMW multi data folders-style):

This guide explains the process in detail. Check it out if you haven't done this before.

  • To install the mod, create a data folder for the mod and add its path to openmw.cfg
  • To uninstall the mod, simply remove the folder from openmw.cfg - Continue with step 3 and 4 if you want normal maps
  • Find your "settings.cfg" file. Should be here:
    • Linux: $HOME/.config/openmw
    • Windows: C:\Users\Username\Documents\my games\openmw (username, harddrive and language may vary)
    • Mac: $HOME/Library/Preferences/openmw

  • 4. Add these rows to settings.cfg (except for the QUOTE):
    QUOTE
    [Shaders]
auto use object normal maps = true
auto use object specular maps = true
  • 5. You're done! Launch the game and everything should work as expected.

Didn't understand a thing in the first two steps? Again, look at the official OpenMW wiki guide.

Still don't understand? Ah well. Do it the old way then. Follow the instructions below. But it's gonna suck when you have to uninstall or reinstall the mod because you will have to remove every single texture manually. If you want normal maps with the method below, continue after step 2 with step 3-5 as explained above.

To install (vanilla morrowind-way, I recommend the above way if you use OpenMW):

    • Put the "textures" folder in your Data Files folder in the main Morrowind directory. Overwrite when/if asked.
    • You're done, at least if you want to run this without normal maps! Launch the game and everything should work as expected.
