About this mod

Script that practically (though not functionally) eliminates failure to cast. Level normally, enemies balanced.

***IMPORTANT***
If you are using the Morrowind Code Patch, DISABLE the "swift casting" module, otherwise, your skills will not level.

*VICTORY AT LAST!*
A very special thanks to Shade for his Always Hit Mod, who's scripting I reverse-engineered to work for spells.

*What this does*
As far as cause and effect goes, you will be able to cast any spell as long as you have the magicka for it. You will still have to level on the magical schools for progression in guilds and so forth, but you don't have to worry about failing your spell EVERY FRIGGIN TIME.

*B-but what about--?*
Stop right there(, criminal scum). Let me explain how this sucker works. From your first steps into Morrowind, you will instantly get a 99 skill level in all magic schools. This isn't a cheating mod, though, so how is it balanced? That's what the script is for. The script instantly lowers your skill level to the correct value when you enter conversations or your menus. This means that if you have a real skill level of 5 in Destruction, you aren't going to
instantly become the Arch Mage. The reason we're at 99, not 100, is that 99 means you have room to level up. This preserves the game mechanics; you can still grind spells or buy training to level your magic. You will still level normally, it's just that there's no more failing to cast (if you have the magicka for it).

Granted, this isn't as balanced as Oblivion's always-cast system, as Oblivion skill-locks spells you're allowed to cast, even if you have the magicka for it. It's more like Skyrim's, but Skyrim would skill-lock spells, too, by making better spells more expensive (to cast and buy) and harder to find, especially at lower levels (where Expert spells do not even appear and Master spells have their own quests unlocked at 99 AND you have to buy them). Also, unlike Skyrim, Morrowind does not make spells cheaper according to skill (there are mods for that, though).

**IN CONCLUSION - the only reason for you to level in magic with this mod is for Guild progress. I just believe that, considering Warrior NPCs are capable of casting them, it shouldn't matter that the player could, too. More magic means bigger sandbox, means more fun. Ultimately, with this mod, the skills will be little more than an indicator of how much you use that particular skill, which is what should matter for guild progression, anyways.

**FAQ**
Q-Why not make all my spells "always cast"? *This is the old version of this mod*
A-Because that makes those spells not count for level progress, and NPCs with LUDICROUSLY powerful spells can cast them relentlessly AND that doesn't affect custom spells. This only affects the player, as well, so you don't have to worry about ludicrously powerful enemy starter spells.

Q-I'm worried about leveling.
A-Don't. You will level at the same rate as 99-100 and progress through quests normally, it's just that you don't have to worry about wasting hard-rested magicka for a healing spell. If you prefer altering rates as you progress (or use Swift Casting from the MCP), then this is not for you.

Q-Isn't this cheating?
A-If you believe that the ability to constantly fail for 2 hours is balanced (which it may be), then don't install the mod. Failure is a fact of life you learn from. In Morrowind, though, you DON'T learn from failure. You just stand there flailing your arms around until the blue moon shows up and the spell to let you heal 2 points for 2 seconds finally works. If you want to fail, this is not the mod for you.

Q-Where's the melee version?
A- Shade's discontinued version. Shade's supported Official version is here; https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45267

***INSTALLATION***
put the JDS_ACM.esp file in your Morrowind Data Files folder.
this requires Bloodmoon and Tribunal.

*Only tested on destruction spells at present, but as long as I didn't misspell, it should work for anything.
