You need to buy them from the seller and then I think he gives you a key or something like that. When you have the key in your inventory they auto follow you where ever you go. Mine followed me all the way to Balmora!
In the mod, there are two nifty rings - one for the cats, one for the kittens - which will bring them to you anywhere. If you are together with them, they will end up next to you, regardless if you are indoors or outdoors. If you are separated from them, you have to be outdoors for the rings to work. Check your inventory.
Emma's forum; if you have problems just ask her for help but in all the old mods you always have to just read the "Read Me" included in the archive. I know that the new modders these days don't include them but back then they did. http://emmates.proboards.com/
Hmm... Unless they've got generic names, I didn't see any rings added to my inventory. I ran over with a new save file to check and didn't notice anything either. I even combed those forums for any hints on what I'm missing, but couldn't find anything.
Go on the forums and open a thread. This mod is 10 years old. No one talks about it any more. Emma will answer you and tell you the console codes or something. But when you buy the cats I remember that the seller gives you the rings. It is part of the conversation. You must have not been paying attention. That happens to me as well with all these mods.
I remember now, 100% that you get a ring for for the adult cat and another for the kittens. You may even get a ring for every cat and kitten. Go speak to the shop owner again. I bet you that you haven't clicked on the correct conversation option. That is because MW is an old game and that is the way RPGs were made back then. You had to start the mod through the conversation options. Emma does this with all her mods so when you correctly start the conversation with the shop owner then he will explain to you how to use the rings. He gives you the rings. If you don't remember this then you haven't done it correctly.
Really? That is weird. At least you solved the problem. I would keep the cats. When you let them loose in your house they all start walking everywhere... so funny
Yep, I recruited them all and set them loose in my house. I made the mistake of bringing one with me, though... Bad idea! He got lost, equipping the ring doesn't call him, and my game CTDs if I get the bookseller to call him back.
I can live with 8/9 cats, though. They're sooo cute. The mews, those idle animations.

I used it years ago. They certainly add to a home atmosphere.
