   I wonder if it would make sense to alter Mackom's head textures to get a softer, more natural hair line.

      The hairline depends on the hair mesh. You could paint in strands of soft hairline on my head textures, but they would look odd when changing hairs (as in - hairline for red hair on the head texture and black hair texture on the hair mesh).
