High Quality Blasters
This mod completely replaces the existing blasters with newly modeled firearms, complete with high quality textures. Special care was taken to retain the form and look of the original items, but in a high quality package. Each weapon was carefully textured based on close examination of its default counterpart. Revan - Jedi Knight Robes
Drewton returns with another excellent skin; these are light side Jedi Knight robes for Revan. Which are apparently inspired " by the Jedi Knight costume of the Secret Apprentice in the Wii/PS2 versions of The Force Unleashed". A look at the screenshots, reveals some brilliant texture work, and in some places there seems to be a chain mail effect, generally the robes to seem suited to a lightsider. The modder has also included in the mod an armband, which when activated will give the player Revan's robes, so you don't have to cheat to get the robes in game. Beware if you are using BoS as this is likely incompatible with the model used in that particular mod. All in all this is an excellent skin, though as with all aesthetic mods this will come down to taste, so check out the screenshots!

Tomb of Jesset Dal'Kest (2.0)
I�m very pleased to announce the debut of Darkkender to the FileFront network. Darkkender is one of the old school modders back before FileFront ever had a site here. I know that there are lots of modders that many of you have never had the chance to get to know since many of them retired before KotorFiles took off and never have gotten around to getting their work here. Slowly but surely some of them during that time span when this site started to take off in the summer of 2006, have brought their work over here and many of you have benefited from it.

This mod that Darkkender brings to us is a new tomb to explore on the planet of Korriban during the events of the first Knights of the Old Republic game called the Tomb of Jesset Dal'Kest. This requires you to team up with Lashowe at the Sith Academy to retrieve the Jedi Holocron that is inside the belly of a Tuk'ata. After completing that quest, you will notice a pillar appear by the edge and that will be the entrance to a tomb that will have two new modules to explore with danger inside. There will be new armors and weapons to get in this tomb.

The TSL Patcher will install this mod. The readme that comes with this mod release was last modified on February 7, 2005; the original release date. If you know the modding history of the Knights of the Old Republic, you will know that the TSL Patcher was not a tool for installation on that date. So when the author talks about the mod compatibilities it has with other mods, it was set during that time to be compatible with those with the different .2da files that come with this mod. So don�t get confused by the readme and seeing the TSL Patcher that comes with this mod too. Enjoy the new tomb!

Yavin IV
The first time we saw Yavin IV was in the first ever Star Wars movie back in 1977. Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia escaped the Death Star and retreated to the Rebel Base on Yavin IV, a moon of the planet Yavin. The Empire put a tracking device on Han Solo�s ship, the Millennium Falcon and the Death Star went there to destroy Yavin IV in hopes to stop the Rebellion permanently.

Yavin IV has since become a Jedi Academy hub in the Expanded Universe after George Lucas� original trilogy and has even been touched on by the game, Knights of the Old Republic. The thing about that is you get to go to a space station just outside of Yavin itself. This is where Mod Squad and Master Zionosis come in.

This huge mod give you the opportunity to go to Yavin IV and explore the area. There is however some familiar modules from the other planets that have been used in the Knights of the Old Republic game. However they do serve a purpose and they seem to blend in well together.

There is a tomb to explore and some Dark Jedi to fight. There is also one big surprise; might as well talk about that since it�s not much of a surprise in the screenshots if you check those out. Trask Ulgo is there which means he wasn�t killed by Darth Bandon. Well, the canon version of the game he was, but this mod changes that plot point. If you enjoy twists in the story such as this and love new areas, this mod is definitely something to play. There is also a new launcher that comes with this mod!

Darth Malak - Herald of Darkness
Well, here's a blast from the past! Don Kain is back with his latest mod for the first Knights of the Old Republic game. This mod is a reskin of the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Malak.

The edits made by the author are simple, but very effective. He has made the red much deeper, and has given the chest plates a far more metallic look, as well as making it a dark, black-grey colour, which I think is very fitting for body armour worn by the Dark Lord of the Sith. The author has also made the Jawpiece much darker, which again is fitting in with Malak's persona.

This is a good quality skin, so if you're tired of Malak's default look, give this a go!

    File Front archiving in progress

    Back in the middle of 2015, quietly shut the doors to its various gaming hub sites (which were much like Nexus sites for game mods back in their hayday in the early to mid 2000s). Over the past few years File Front was extremely out-dated, slow or outright broken in many areas, lacking some TLC that it needed despite still having an active contingent of core users who still frequented their forums.

    Changes to our file uploader and large file uploading fix

    As you are all probably aware we have had an issue for many, many months now with our file uploader not being able to process large file uploads (typically files above 300MB in size). During this time we’ve been working with mod authors to manually upload large files to our database for them. Obviously this isn't ideal for either you or for us, so we've also been working diligently behind the scenes to get a new uploader coded for the sites. We've finished work on this new uploader and it’s now live and available to be used on the sites.

    SSL Testing on Nexus Mods

    Hi folks,

    Just a quick heads up that we're currently testing out the implementation of SSL security across the Nexus site (not the forums, yet).

    The switch has been flicked and you should be seeing a nice padlock in your URL bar while browsing the site. Some pages aren't showing a green padlock yet due to links to the non-SSL side of the forums.

    Wanted: NMM Testers and Focus Group

    We’re currently in the process of adding new features into Nexus Mod Manager, Robin covered it briefly in a previous news post, so I’ll try and expand a little more.

    What we are aiming for with NMM is a piece of software that will make the installation, management and visibility of mods incredibly easy and open. You see a mod you like on our site, you click ‘Download with NMM’ and have it seamlessly downloaded, unpacked and placed in the right location with minimal fuss.     Downloading issues

    Update: This issue should now be resolved.

    Hi folks,

    We're aware of some issues with our download mechanism today which certain users are experiencing on certain files. The problem stems from our current work trying to get the sites switched over to a fully SSL secured system -- a complex and costly procedure we've been working on for some time now to better secure our sites and your user data.

    Ad reporting functionality

    To help us sort out our ad serving we’ve added a new “report this ad” feature underneath any ad placements on the site. This functionality will quickly let us know about the ad placement you’re reporting which we can then pass on to our ad supplier to help them quickly get to the root of the problem.

    A bad ad that we would appreciate you reporting if you see it would be considered as:

    • Any ads with auto-playing sound.
    • Any ads that look like those crazy epilepsy inducing ads of the early 2000s with flashing colours.
    • Any pop-ups. We do not use pop-up ads.
    • Any ads that “break” the page lay

    Corrections to file stats

    Hi folks,

    It came to our attention last week, in a random forum post unrelated to the topic, that the unique file download stats have been broken for quite some time now. I honestly had no idea this was the case.

    The unique download stat you see on file pages is supposed to tell you how many individual members have downloaded a file. Irrespective of how many times that user comes back to download that file (or multiple versions of a file on the same page) the unique download counter should only go up once per user who downloads from a file page.     I still play XCOM: Enemy Unknown and despite it’s age, it still feels fresh to me thanks to thoughtful design and mechanics, classic sci-fi setting, white-knuckle tactical action, and of course mind blowing mods like XCOM:Long War.

    2K has apparently done it again! XCOM 2 has been in the hands of reviewers and word on the street is nothing but praise. It seems they’ve taken the beloved formula of mixing global decisions with explosive tactical action to new heights that include procedural environments, stealth mechanics, and so much more.
