REQUIRES THE CURRENT (as of 02.04.2015) EXPERIMENTAL VERSION OF KENSHI

The mod adds a couple of random roaming parties for more variety, a challenge for the late game and a chance to get some really good equipment above "standard"-level.

Deserter parties are added for all three major factions. They aggressively loot the wastes and are probably best avoided in the early game. But if your people are a little more experienced, they are a good way to get something better than bandit equipment and their leaders yield a nice bounty.

Police squads also appear, and you can collect bounties from their leader, too.

Gladiators (that's right... "Gladiators", as they are extremely skilled and totally individual) come in three flavors: tough, super tough and insanely tough. You know your squad is good when you can take down a couple of these. They are not aggressive though. If they were, they would eradicate entire towns. You can choose to provoke them into attacking, but also to hire them, if you have plenty of money.
The funnest part about them, however, is their completely random equipment, picked from pretty much everything available in vanilla, that ranges from standard to highest quality (depending on flavour). Each one of them is... unique.

Vagabonds are also roaming about. They are basically the same as tavern recruits, only randomly appearing and "renewable". They travel alone or in small groups and cost 700 a piece.

So, I think the balance is not disturbed by the mod. Deserters will make the game slightly harder in the beginning, but there are also more friendly parties around to help you out. For convenience and for those who don't like to travel far from their base, recruits and police chiefs now occasionally come to you. And the gladiators fill the late-game-challenge-gap and even make looting fun (and worthwile) again after you crafted the best stuff for your people.
