Introduction:

This version of the AN124 is based on the proposed AN124-210 with Rolls Royce Engines. It can fly much higher, faster and farther than the previous versions of AN124, but still contains the same basic aircraft dynamics. I have personally test-flown this model over 26,000 nm to assure her flight dynamic accuracy. After installation, and before selecting this aircraft, it is best to review the details before flight. This aircraft does not contain any kneeboard data. It is also important to have experience with heavy aircraft flight before attempting to fly this monster. She is very heavy on lift-off, and unforgiving on final approach. Below I've included a few tips that may help you fly this bird without catastrophe. These tips are designed for experienced FSX users, so please do not contact me unless you experience something totally abnormal.

Graphics:

Exceptional graphics are necessary to see all of the details that this aircraft possesses, such as the turning of the center front and rear wheels. The cargo door is controlled by using the combination, and the crew ladder is activated with the combination. The smoke is controlled with the key once all engines are started. If you don't have the smoke file installed, there will be no smoke. Simply enter the effects folder within the AN124210 folder and copy the fx_smoke_f6.fx file into the Microsoft_Flight_Simulator_XEffects folder before you take flight. Sometimes the external view of the aircraft can cause sudden failures that can be otherwise prevented while viewing through the cockpit. External view can be used during flight, but only by experienced heavy aircraft FSX pilots. You can view the frame rate of your graphics card by using three times (showing all data details). If your frame rate is below 10 frames/sec for a considerable amount of time, you either need adjust your graphic settings within FSX, or install a better graphics card (system compatible). I have personally found that the (PCIe) ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro works best for FSX.

Flying the AN124-210

Fuel tanks to full (use to call a fuel truck). Taxi smooth to assigned take-off runway. Flaps down 2 notches (5 degrees). Line-up on runway. Auto-throttle set to 250 KIAS. Auto-throttle engaged. Brakes on full. Hit the "speed" button and hold brakes to 92% N1. Release brakes and roll. Altimeter set to flight level. Set CMD on and ALT select for climb at over 100 KIAS. Allow climb to 210 KIAS and bring flaps up full . Use Nav to fly a GPS route at above 3,000 feet AGL, or control otherwise. At FL100 increase speed to 350 KIAS, then increase climb rate to 4,000 f/m. Decrease climb rate to 2,000 f/m at FL320, then to 1,500 f/m at FL420 (if climbing to FL500W/FL510E). On level cruise maintain less than 10 degrees nose-up attitude with adjusted speed (do not exceed 10 degrees nose-up) ... FL400W/FL410E=mach.84, FL500W/FL510E=mach.97.

Landing the AN124-210

Upon descent maintain mach speed to 300 KIAS, then set speed to 300 KIAS. When speed exceeds 320 KIAS, flaps down one notch (1 degree). At FL210 change speed to 260 KIAS. At FL120 set speed to 240 KIAS. Maintain 240 KIAS until you are at the proper range for ILS capture at level altitude (usually 6,000 ft AGL) runway outbound. Change speed to 180 KIAS and flaps down one more notch (5 degrees). After turn into ILS capture, set speed to 150 KIAS and flaps down one more notch (10 degrees). You will not need any more flaps until touchdown. One big problem with using ILS capture, and this aircraft, is that it will not hold the ILS descent rate on occasion. When landing it is important to use the cabin view so you can watch the ILS capture effect. If ILS does not capture your descent rate, manually force a descent and disengage the APP hold and Alt hold buttons. Descend to below the carrot and level-off, then re-engage the ILS hold (APP) until capture. This also occurs on my AN225-210 version, but I've had no complaints about it yet. To land, just wait until you are over the runway, then disengage all autopilot buttons. Pull back a little on the yoke and land with a very slight nose-up attitude. Experienced users can do this through an external view, which is very interesting and fairly graphic. Once your nose gear are on the ground, spoilers up (/ key), flaps extended , then full reverse throttle to 50 KIAS. Neutralize throttle , spoilers down (/ key), and flaps up . Brake to 30 KIAS, then throttle-up to maintain approximately 18 KIAS for taxi. Taxi to ATC assigned gate, or any gate you desire (you are bigger than everyone else, after all).

Introducing the Project Opensky A330-300 for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Designed to be a competitor to the Boeing 777-200, Airbus Industries has out done itself creating a beautiful and fuel efficient flying machine capable of delivering passengers in safety and comfort well into the 21st Century and possibly beyond. Included in this package you will find the Airbus House scheme (With and without SATCOM), Air Canada, Cathay Pacific and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS - with SATCOM) liveries. All textures have been modified in DXT-3 format for crisp visuals without comprimising frame rates. The panel has been aliased to the FS-X default Airbus A321 (due to no A330 panel available for FS-X to date). A magnificient A330 sound package by Steven Persson has been included for authenticity. This file is for FS-X ONLY!

* * * * * AIRBUS A330-300 HISTORY * * * * *

The Airbus A330 is a large-capacity, wide-body, medium-to-long-range commercial passenger airliner manufactured by Airbus. It was developed at the same time as the four-engined A340. Airbus intended the A330 to compete directly in the ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operation Performance Standards) market, specifically with the Boeing 767. The A330's fuselage and wings are virtually identical to those of the smaller A340 variants, although it has different engines. The A330 basic fuselage design is inherited from the Airbus A300, as is the nose/cockpit section and the fly-by-wire system and flightdeck from the A320. By the end of May 2006 a total of 574 A330 had been ordered and 413 delivered.

The A330-300 was developed as replacement for the A300. It is based on a stretched A300-600 fuselage but with new wings, stabilisers and new fly-by-wire software. The A330-300 carries 295 passengers in a three-class cabin layout (335 in 2 class and 440 in single class) over a range of 10,500 km (5,650 nautical miles). It has a large cargo capacity, comparable to a Boeing 747. Some airlines run overnight cargo-only flights after daytime passenger services. This variation is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines. All engines are ETOPS-180 min rated. It entered service in 1993. The direct Boeing equivalent is the Boeing 777-200. The A330-300 will be replaced in the Airbus lineup by the A350-900 XWB, currently predicted to fly in 2011.

    The Great Thumbnail Rebuild

    posted by MrMason Site News
We have been gearing up for some time to get ready to rebuild the thumbnails for over 2.5 million images that you’ve all uploaded over the years so that they are a much higher quality for the new website design that we've been working on.

We kicked off this rebuilding process at the start of last week, and it is now complete. The higher quality thumbnails may take some time to filter down through our various CDN providers as they are heavily cached.

Some of you may have noticed over the last few weeks a few subtle changes that we've made to the way thumbnail images are displayed on the websit ...(continue reading the full article)

This week we have some cracking picks for you all to take a look at. SirSalami has found an incredible dodge mod for Skyrim that not only adds an ability for you to dodge attacks, but also your enemies. I have a Star Wars based mod from nubyplay that I have had great fun checking out (frazzling enemies with lightning or sending them skyward never seems to get old), Terrorfox1234 has multicolored torches with a variety of uses, and Robbie922004 has come through again yet with a great pick and write up for 'Revenge of the Sleeves' for XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

We have a name! And a Q&A session with Tannin regarding the new mod mana...

    posted by Dark0ne Site News
It's been awhile since we mentioned our work on the new mod manager. For a quick recap of "recent" events, back in August 2016 we brought on Tannin (of Mod Organizer fame) to head up work on a completely new mod manager for Nexus Mods. He's been working on it along with the two original NMM programmers ever since.

Tannin's remit is simple on the surface, we want a mod manager for Nexus Mods that can handle modding for as many games as possible and that can be both simple for newcomers to use while containing (or supporting) all the advanced functionality users have come to expect from mod manag ...(continue reading the full article)

This week they are all picks from within our Bethesda games. Terrorfox couldn't decide on just one mod, so has actually chosen 4 from the same author, all of which add additional beasties or variants of into your Skyrim game. I have chosen a mod that I think really adds a bit of variety to an otherwise annoying (but necessary) part of gaming - fast travel. SirSalami has also addressed one of his gaming pet-peeves of only being able to save a game from retiring to a bed by looking at a mod that allows far more diversity in save locations. Finally, our community member iMACobra has selected a mo ...(continue reading the full article)

Blog Piece: We're getting an office, and we're hiring

    posted by Dark0ne Feature
Hello! long time, no...boring you with my long blog pieces.

We're about to post up a news article about us looking to hire two new web programmers. Unlike our previous hire-calls, however, this one is different because it comes with the caveat that the job is based in Exeter, in the south west of England. Why? Because we're setting up an office. Our first office.

Revealing such news comes as bitter-sweet to me. For the past 15 years Nexus Mods (and the names it previously operated under) has been run from bedrooms, dorm rooms, campus computer rooms and home offices. It's been a success story up ...(continue reading the full article)
