About this mod

Replaces the firing, pump and shell insert sounds for the pump-action shotgun.

Permissions and credits
Description
Like Fallout 4, there are a lot of sounds in this game that I don't like, but the sounds I dislike the most are by far the default pump-action shotgun sounds. The shell insert sounds are okay, but the firing and pump sounds are just laughably bad. It sounds less powerful than the Varmint Rifle in RDR2. Once I learned how easy it is to override assets in 76, I quickly took to GB to find appropriate replacements for said sounds, and these were my preferences.

Installation
If you've installed any other mods for 76, you should already know how this goes. If you haven't:

  • Extract the .ba2 archive into your Fallout 76 directory's Data folder (example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda.net Launcher\games\Fallout76\Data)
  • Go to Documents\My Games\Fallout 76 and open Fallout76Custom.ini
  • Under [Archive], add PumpShotgunAltSounds.ba2 to sResourceArchive2List.

If there are sounds that you would prefer the vanilla versions for, you can open the .ba2 archive using Archive2 (or other programs, but Archive2 is the easiest) and delete the sounds you don't want. The filenames make it very obvious which sound is which.

Credits
Navaro - firing sounds, shell insert sounds
Magmacow - pump sounds
Slosten (myself) - cropping to match vanilla sound timings, compiling into an archive (in other words, barely anything; send your praise and thanks to Navaro and Magmacow, not me)

Want to find more amazing sound resources by these two artists? Be sure to check their GB profiles: Navaro and Magmacow. Both have contributed tons of resources, some of which I've used in other sound mods for Fallout 4. Just be sure to ask for their permission and wait until it is granted before releasing any mods that make use of their assets. They work very hard to provide these for us, so please, show them respect.
