About this mod

Allows to Zoom-out more, displaying the whole East/West length of the World Map and all the Local Map.
Both for Colored and Monochrome Maps. Different icon colors for Colored and/or Clear Maps.
Increases the number of intermediary Zoom heights.
The Local Map Zoom is expanded without .ini editing.

For the Local Map description, see at the bottom of this page.

Introduction

Zoom-out Extended is part of a three mods ensemble which main purpose is to reduce the black & white contrast of the Pipboy screens when one removes the monochrome display in order to use a colored World Map (mainly).

The other mods:
Gold Kit for Color Pipboy -anti-Black&White Screen-
Provides Colors to Icons/Animations and some Fonts for all the Pipboy screens and colors the icons in the Barter/Container/Workbench windows.
Increases legibility.
From v1.1, GKCP removes the monochrome layer (shades of green) of the Pipboy automatically, making it black & white but ready to display colors.

There is an independent install for that part of GKCP.
No more monochrome - Color setting for the Pipboy!
If your Pipboy display is monochrome and you want to simply install Z-o E and a Colored World Map, you can use this small mod to remove the monochrome layer.

A Realistically Weightless Colored Sorting Mod
By using DEF_INV and GKCP resources, provides both the inventory and the in-game Barter/Containers/Workbench windows with a variety of colored icons as tags instead of [word] tags which helps to reduce the contrast.
There are Weightless and Vanilla weights installs, Full or Modular.
ARWCSM 1.1 is compatible with DEF_HUD 'Component tags' which displays the components a scrappable item is made of, when you point at it
in the 3D world view.

DESCRIPTION

SHORT: In the World Map screen, the maximum Zoom-out does not display a global enough view of the world (in my view).
Allows to Zoom-out more, displaying the full East/West length of the map at full Zoom-out and all the Local Map.
Also increases the number of intermediary scroll heights.
Z-o E does not provide a World Map. One should be installed (use the links provided below). If not, the dismal Bethesda map is what is displayed.

LONGER: In the World Map view, the maximum Zoom-out is still too close to the ground and does not display a global enough view.
This mod allows the maximum Zoom-out to display the full horizontal lenght of the World map and as much as the Local displays.
The scale of the scroll allows more intermediary heights and there is also less difference between the maximum Zoom-out first and second levels.

There are separate installs for World Maps in 2K 4K and 8K.
In case you don't know the resolution of the one you use, find the file ...\Data\textures\interface\pip-boy\worldmap_d.dds.
If it is not there, then you are using the default World Map and you are lucky because at least you will substantially ameliorate your display with a new world map, Satellite World Map for example (see below).

This is independant from this mod BUT:
The default Pipboy screen is monochrome, so quite obviously, most people use that particular setting, but sometimes the visual cost of vintage is too high.
The Color Maps are so arguably better and a more satisfying experience... It is worth giving it a try...
Especially with my other mods GKCP, ARWCSM or NMMCP (see the début of this page).

When one removes the monochrome display, the Power Armor Pipboy screens (World Map, inventory...) become too bright.
You'll probably need to change (or add) these lines in Fallout4Custom.ini:
Chapters [] are essential:
The default are respectively 3 and 1:
[display]
fPipboyScreenEmitIntensityPA=1
fPipboyScreenDiffuseIntensityPA=0.15

I have also seen: 1.25 and 0.15.

As GKCP v1.1 provides an automatic removal of the monochrome display of the Pipboy, making it ready to display colors, what follows is less relevant.
Spoiler:
Show
Basically, to remove the monochrome display in the Pipboy, you need to edit Fallout4Custom.ini and write:
[Pipboy]
bPipboyDisableFX=1

Fallout4Custom.ini takes precedent over the other INIs (I read) so if that line is elsewhere (with 0 instead of 1), it would be overrun by the one you
put in Fallout4Custom.ini (...\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\ with Win7 without Steam) (make a search in C:\ if you don't know where it is).

INSTALLATION

Auto:
Use NMM or Mod Organizer (if you want to use and test: Mod Organizer 2 alpha x).
Use the install corresponding to the resolution of the World Map you use and if it is SWM or any other map.

Manual:
Copy 'Pipboy_MapPage.swf' in the game directory ...\Fallout 4\Data\interface\
a) IF there is no message asking you if you want to replace that file, then it is done.
b) IF Pipboy_MapPage.swf is already present there, it is because a mod installed it so, to be able to Zoom-out more and keep the other mod's modifications, it is necessary to edit THAT file and make the small changes explained below.

Works for later too, if a mod wants to replace the file Pipboy_MapPage.swf of this mod, just edit that NEW file and modify the few lines
shown below in order to merge the two mods.
The colored or bigger MapMarkers would not be in that merger (logical) (unless you import them).

How to step by step:
Spoiler:
Show
- Save the file 'Pipboy_MapPage.swf' present in ...\Data\interface\ (always better)
- If JPEX's Free Flash Decompiler is installed on your computer, double-clic on Pipboy_MapPage.swf.
   If not: JPEX's Free Flash Decompiler (Opensource).
- Go to script\scaleform\WorldMapHolder
- With JPEXS 8.xx, for some reason (of multiplication...), it is better to write the changes in the right window.
   So, in the "Source ActionScript" window (middle), clic on a line with a value in it. The most right-side window appears.
- Use the "Edit" button of that window to change the values.

These values are for all the Maps except Satellite World Map. That mod uses an .esp which modifies the map frame size.

FOR 8K World Map:
MIN_SCALE = 0.095;                                                (default 0.75) - This is the max Zoom-out
MAX_SCALE = 3;                                                      (default 5) - This is the max Zoom-in
START_ZOOM = 0.045;                                            (default 0.117647) - Standard Zoom height. The higher the number, the closer to the ground
TOP_PAN_GUTTER_PCT = 0.15;                                (default 0.06335414969680514) - Northern frame limit
MOUSE_WHEEL_ZOOM_SPEED = 0.015;                     (default 0.15) - The intermediary scroll heights ratio

FOR 4K World Map:

MIN_SCALE = 0.2;                                                    (default 0.75) - This is the max Zoom-out
MAX_SCALE = 5;                                                      (default 5) - This is the max Zoom-in
START_ZOOM = 0.0475;                                           (default 0.117647) - Standard Zoom height. The higher the number, the closer to the ground
TOP_PAN_GUTTER_PCT = 0.15;                                (default 0.06335414969680514) - Northern frame limit
MOUSE_WHEEL_ZOOM_SPEED = 0.02;                       (default 0.15) - The intermediary scroll heights ratio

FOR 2K World Map:
MIN_SCALE = 0.4;                                                    (default 0.75) - This is the max Zoom-out
MAX_SCALE = 4;                                                      (default 5) - This is the max Zoom-in
START_ZOOM = 0.1;                                                (default 0.117647) - Standard Zoom height. The higher the number, the closer to the ground
TOP_PAN_GUTTER_PCT = 0.15;                                (default 0.06335414969680514) - Northern frame limit
MOUSE_WHEEL_ZOOM_SPEED = 0.05;                       (default 0.15) - The intermediary scroll heights ratio

- Clic on Save (the CODE)
- Then Save the FILE in ...\Fallout 4\Data\interface\

Good to know: It is not necessary to exit and relaunch the game to load new values. Just reopen the map after the changes have been saved.

Voilà.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

VERSIONS:

Compatible with Fallout 4 up to version 1.4.132b.

Still 1.4:
A retropedaling, actually. For Players using the Monochrome Pipboy setting. I reverted back to All White mapmarkers and fonts.
Better visibility after all. There is an all white install for each resolution and map.
For SWM 4K and 8K, I reverted back also to default for a thing necessary for the other maps but useless for SWM, so why tempt the devil.

1.4:
Common to all 1.4 installs:
- The Local Map Zoom-out expansion is installed automatically. This is a clean system; an .esp file with a dedicated ini; which leaves
   the game ini files untouched.
  The place of the esp in the plugins order list does not matter.
- The Local Map settings are edited both in the .swf and in the .esp file so it is the combination of the two which allows the display
   of the entire Local Map (not possible I think with a single method).
   With the ini settings only, the zoom-out is better then Vanilla's but still much lower then in conjunction with the swf.
- The full Zoom-in has been increased a bit more to go down (almost) to street level (useless, I know!).

IF you have already made the Local Map changes in Fallout4Custom.ini (not a spoiler, just targeted info):
Spoiler:
Show

         [Mapmenu]
         fLocalMapLoadedAreaRadius_Interior=16384.0000
         fLocalMapLoadedAreaRadius=32768.0000
   THEN two files installed with v1.4:
         Local Map Expanded (Zoom-out Ext. plugin).esp
         Local Map Expanded (Zoom-out Ext. plugin).ini
   are not necessary but OK to be left there or to be removed.

Version for 8K Coloured Satellite World Map (SWM)
- Standard size white MapMarkers. Yellow-gold Player/PA/Waypoint/Quests Markers and on-the-map Fonts. Only the PA was added from v1.31.
  Only for the Coloured Map (bPipboyDisableFX=1).

Version for 8K Monochrome Satellite World Map (SWM)
- Standard size white MapMarkers. Yellow Player/PA/Waypoint/Quests Markers. Yellow-gold on-the-map Fonts.
  The blanket of green covering everything on the monochrome Pipboy screen washes any color away. The yellow Special Markers
  (Player/Waypoint/Quests/PA) look virtually the same as the white MapMarkers. I tried quite a few colors but nothing works except very clear Markers.

Version for 8K Monochrome or Coloured Satellite World Map (SWM) - Bigger MapMarkers
- The MapMarkers are 50% bigger. The Special MapMarkers (Player/PA/Waypoint/Quests) are yellow and the on-the-map Fonts are yellow-gold.

Version for 8K Monochrome or Colored World Maps (not SWM)
- Standard size white MapMarkers. Yellow Player/PA/Waypoint/Quests Markers. Yellow-gold on-the-map Fonts.

Version for 8K Colored CLEAR World Maps (not SWM)
- Yellow MapMarkers and Yellow (with a bit of blue) Player/PA/Waypoint/Quest Markers for better visibility on a generaly clear background,
   like Immersive Map - 8K Satellite. Yellow-gold on-the-map Fonts. Only for Colored Maps (bPipboyDisableFX=1).

Version for 4K Monochrome or Coloured Satellite World Map (SWM)
- Standard size white MapMarkers. Yellow Player/PA/Waypoint/Quests Markers. Yellow-gold on-the-map Fonts.

Version for 4K Colored CLEAR World Maps (not SWM)
- Yellow MapMarkers and Yellow (with a bit of blue) Player/PA/Waypoint/Quest Markers for better visibility on a generaly clear background,
  like Immersive Map - 4K Satellite. Yellow-gold on-the-map Fonts. Only for Colored Maps (bPipboyDisableFX=1).

Version for 4K Monochrome or Colored World Maps (not SWM)
- Standard size white MapMarkers. Yellow Player/PA/Waypoint/Quests Markers. Yellow-gold on-the-map Fonts.

Version for 2K Monochrome or Colored World Maps
- Standard size white MapMarkers. Yellow Player/PA/Waypoint/Quests Markers. Yellow-gold on-the-map Fonts.

1.31:
- Player Arrow changed to yellow-gold, Waypoint and Quest Markers to blue and the Fonts appearing on the map to yellow-gold.
  For 8K Colored and Clear WorldMaps (not SWM) like Immersive Map 2K - 4K -- 8K Satellite.
  Only if you use bPipboyDisableFX=1 in ini. Works with non-clear Color World Maps too, matter of taste.

- Version for 8K Coloured Satellite World Map (SWM). The Player/Waypoint/Quest Markers and the Fonts appearing on the map are colored
  in yellow-gold.
  Only if you use bPipboyDisableFX=1 in ini.

1.3:

- Version for 2K 4K and 8K World Maps which adresses a frame limit preventing the display of the top northern strip of the map with some World Maps.
- The player's cursor is tinted a bit (some yellow) so it is more distinguishable from the white mapmarkers. It is yellow with a colored map.
- The height of the Standard View (when you open the map) has been adjusted a bit higher.

- There are separate installs for Satellite World Map (SWM) and All the other Maps. This is because SWM esp changes the frame size of the map.

- Added a version 4K and 8K Colored CLEAR World Maps (not SWM) with yellow MapMarkers. This is for Color World Maps with a mostly
  clear background like Immersive Map 2K - 4K -- 8K Satellite where the standard white MapMarkers are indistinguishable from the map objects.
  Works only with Color maps (bPipboyDisableFX=1 in Fallout4Custom.ini) because otherwise the Pipboy blanket color melts the yellow away.
  In the 4K version, Waypoint and Quest Markers are blue.
  Can be used with darker maps too, matter of taste.

For the game version 1.2.37 (no reason to play that version anymore), install the mod v1.0 or 1.05 in the "Old versions" section.
If you need to know the version of the game you play, just Pause (ESC) and go in the Settings. It is written there.

INCOMPATIBILITIES:

Realistic World Map v2.2 with More Visible Map Markers by Vastias
The latest 2.2 version is incompatible both with Fallout 4 v1.3 onwards and with my mod BUT NOT the Map per se, only the .swf file.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GKCP, ARWCSM and Z-o E are being selected in the list of 100+ mods presented by Haoswidasee in his Ultimate Fallout 4 Mod Compilation.
He gives very precise procedures for the successive installations of all of those mods.
It can save a lot of time to people (especially starters) to adopt that 'secure' list and maybe built from there.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a russian translation of this mod on Modgames.net somewhere (but I can't find the page because it is in russian).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This mod is been featured on the YouTube show Top 5 Fallout 4 Mods - NEW VEGAS 2! - #9 by Sajcon.
I always wanted to be on top!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mods used in the Screenshots:

Satellite World Map by FloorBelow
Precise World Maps in 4K and 8K made from the game's LODs and other artifices.
Most screenshots 4K and 8K have been taken using this fine mod.
A must worth trying!
There is a conflict between SWM and Scrap Everything (1.91). But it is OK with Spring Cleaning (although some have reported an incompatibily with it too), Scrap Dead Bodies...

Interesting competition:
Immersive maps 2K - 4K by Reptileye
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fallout Texture Overhaul PipBoy (Pip-Boy) UHD 4K by Gorgulla
There is no reason to use the World Map of this mod (2K) but the Pipboy is 4K and fine.
All the screenshots have been taken using this mod for the Pipboy.

Other fine mods of the time:

Pleasant UI by ImBlindMG
Discret HUD far away from the intrusive console type HUDs.

Attention ATI users: There is a bug (not specifically with that mod but also with it) with the Crimson drivers (still in early 2016) called "The compass glitch". If you have it, you know what it is.
Simple solution : Fallout 4 Crimson driver compass fix for AMD by Guru3D

BUT
there is a better solution for the HUD:
DEF_HUD - Fully tunable HUD by Neanka
Yes, you can do it
! Nervous people finish it in 15 minutes, pensioners need one hour but then, they have a HUD that is perfectly adapted to their taste.

DEF_INV - Improved inventory beta by Neanka
Sensible inventory mod.
Icons in stead of words for Tags within the lists is prettier and the sub-categorization (and sub-sub-categorization) tabs are sorting the items in a more practical and accessible way. And it is largely configurable with settings.swf in FlashPlayer 20 Sa (provided).

Better Settlers - New Settlers - Beautiful Female Settlers Merged Patch by Recluse
The number of settler faces goes from 40 to 200. Qui dit mieux for a tiny mod? Seems to work well!

Chameleon Transparency Removal by Freakuent
Much better generaly speaking but especially because it removes the flash when you crouch (when you wear a piece of Cameleon armor).

Classic Fallout Level Up Sound by DDCrusader
Matter of taste but this one IS vintage, short and electronic.

Commonwealth HQ Landscape Overhaul WIP by Printerkop
With our eyes often looking down, it is essential to ameliorate the abominable Bethesda ground textures (e.g. trash and rubble).
This is 2K and 4K. I couldn't recommend it more.

Darker Nights by unforbidable
Bethesda nights are a joke.

Depth of Field (DoF) Removal by DAOWAce
When you are in the Pipboy.

Fallout 4 Footsteps Redone by CptFartSparkles
Way more specific then the Vanilla sounds.

OR
NewDialog by shadwar
I hate everything console.

Legendary Lamps - Lights Lamps Pipboy Overhaul by Spoonifico
Especially for the Spotlight Pipboy frontal lamp.

Less Annoying Longs by aidrocsid
So imperfect but it is better then having a breakdown.

Loot Detector - Scrapper Corpse Highlighting by xatmos
When your weapon is drawn, the dead bodies containing loot are highlighted. Magical!

New Road Enhanced by Rufus696
The Dark version is fine.

No Scoped Hold Breath Reminder by EdG
Small thing but these words are clearly unimmersive.

Night Person Rank 2 - No Night Vision by theicedevil
The Night Vision perk is a catastrophe but +3 in INT and PER by night is still attractive without that "bonus".

Old Style Criticals by Moraelin
Don't we have other things to do in battle then activating the Critical shots? The good old automatic, random, based on Luck level system is COOLER.

Outfit Switcher - Hotkey and Swap Loadouts by registrator2000
Wear armor, then the charisma outfit, then the Hazmat Suit with a single real time, toggle-able hotkey. Simply indispensable!

PipBoy Noises by xwonic
To avoid another breakdown.

Quieter Settlements by Lemures
The hammer noise is particularly irritating. Real live is stressing enough.

Realistic Death Physics - No Animations by mm137
Sometimes I wonder about Bethesda judgement!

Removed Stimpak Injection Animation by deafnv
To avoid getting hooked.

Scrap dead things by PixelMurder
Who wants dead bodies?

Simple Intersection by Draco856
You want to be free but you are not sure about yourself so you need limits. Choose this one.
OR
Place Everywhere by TheLich
You are an anarchist! You want to be free to build anything onto and into any other thing and reverse. Choose this one.

Spring Cleaning by Nverjos
Only raider scum likes crap!

Time Scale and Fast Travel Adjustment by Cappysor
Time is passing by like high winds? Yes, but time is malleable.

VATS Tweaks by Detrax
I hate the killcamera when other hounds are eating my balls!

Vivid Fallout - Trees by Hein84
Any texture is better then Vanilla's but these ones are fine (especially the 4K version).

There are quite a few graphic mods out there already. Because Bethesda has gone for rather low-end graphics (e.g. trash and rubble!), it is quite sensible to search for 4K, HD, HQ, Hi-res (...), texture, better...

The interface being a punishment for PC gamers, the less one deals with the inventory in particular, the better.
The equation is simple: long lists managed by a eight sequential console type of commands ignoring the many possibilities that mouse, interactive windows and many keys can offer.
So don't feel like a cheater if you use a WEIGHTLESS items mod because the vilain is Bethesda.

Zoom-Out Extended for the World Map - for 2K 4K 8K WorldMaps

DESCRIPTION

Spoiler:
Show

Sinon: JPEX's Free Flash Decompiler (Opensource)

POUR World Map 8K:
MIN_SCALE = 0.095;                                           (défaut 0.75) - C'est le Zoom-out
MAX_SCALE = 3;                                                (défaut 5) - C'est le Zoom-in
TOP_PAN_GUTTER_PCT = 0.15;                          (défaut 0.06335414969680514) - Limite du cadre septentrional
MOUSE_WHEEL_ZOOM_SPEED = 0.015;               (défaut 0.15) - L'échelonnage du scroll

POUR World Map 4K:
MIN_SCALE = 0.2;                                               (défaut 0.75) - C'est le Zoom-out
MAX_SCALE = 5;                                                 (défaut 5) - C'est le Zoom-in
TOP_PAN_GUTTER_PCT = 0.15;                           (défaut 0.06335414969680514) - Limite du cadre septentrional
MOUSE_WHEEL_ZOOM_SPEED = 0.02;                  (défaut 0.15) - L'échelonnage du scroll

POUR World Map 2K:
MIN_SCALE = 0.4;                                                (default 0.75) - C'est le Zoom-out
MAX_SCALE = 4;                                                  (default 5) - C'est le Zoom-in
TOP_PAN_GUTTER_PCT = 0.15;                            (défaut 0.06335414969680514) - Limite du cadre septentrional
MOUSE_WHEEL_ZOOM_SPEED = 0.05;                   (default 0.15) - L'échelonnage du scroll

Pour 8K CLEAR Color WorldMaps (other then SWM) comme Immersive Map 2K - 4K -- 8K Satellite.

Coloured Satellite World Map 8K (SWM).

Question de goût.

Configuration? (Settings en anglais). C'est inscrit là-bas.

INCOMPATIBILITÉS:

Realistic World Map v2.2 with More Visible Map Markers par Vastias.

J'ai toujours voulu être au top!

Mods highly recommandés :

Satellite World Map by FloorBelow
Un must!

Immersive maps 2K - 4K by Reptileye
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fallout Texture Overhaul PipBoy (Pip-Boy) UHD 4K by Gorgulla

Zoom-out Expanded for the Local Map - Without .ini editing

En français plus bas.

DESCRIPTION

As it is, the default Local Map is virtualy useless. At full Zoom-out, one can see a few meters around!
This mod display all the territory the local map can show.
From v1.4, no need to edit the ini file anymore.

THE "Black Square BUG" (present in the lame Bethesda maps since Morrowind onwards) is still present in Fallout 4!
It seems they can't find a programmer (ah, Greed!).
So with more territory displayed, you'll see more infamous Black Squares.

INSTALLATION

It is part of the Zoom-out Extended install.

I found there how to load an ini setting in the game with an esp.

Thanks to roamwild and neokio for the ini settings per se.

Zoom-out Expanded for the Local Map - Sans edition du fichier .ini
