About this mod

Mod deprecated. If you're looking for a transparent hazmat helmet, please use "Helmetless Hazmat Suit".
Little fix for hazmat helmet (undamaged only) to get transparent visor (M/F).
Looks like bethsoft forgot transparency handling in Fo4 :P
To modders: feel free to use on Nexus as modder ressource ;)

Permissions and credits
IMPORTANT - FOR PLAYERS: Please now refer to "Helmetless Hazmat Suit" by cat_woman1989: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4369  (less compatibility issues with other mods).

IMPORTANT - FOR MODDERS: Feel free to use for your own mod, no need to ask me if you can. Just keep it on Nexus and give credits.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Tried to make a clear visor for the hazmat helmet, juste like flight helmets. As Fo4 doesn't support transparency really well (All or nothing), it's a bit harder than editing an alpha channel on Ps and adding a NiAlphaProperty.

Seems to work properly in game, but I don't have time to do extensive tests right now, so... Use at your own risk.
Some haircuts will clip (don't even try the megaton) and other headwear (glasses, gasmask, etc) may cause invisible headparts/helmet.

Important note: This file is now deprecated as "mod" and will only be kept as "modder ressource" (if you're interested in adding glass transparency to items). Avoid downloading if you have armorsmith extended and just want to play or don't know how to use fo4edit.

Compatibility:
*May be incompatible with mods modifying hazmat suit helmet mesh, materials or esp armor slots.
*Retextures may not be 100% compatible.
=>If there's no .esp (head/helmet missing, not moddable at workbench, etc), no Fhelmet.nif, MHelmet.nif (no proper transparency), HazmatSuitHelmetNew_d.dds (dirt on glass), or HazmatSuitHelmetNew.BGSM (bad textures, no transparency, pink helmet), your mod must be 100% compatible.

Compatibility list:
Retextures : Most retex mods must be converted, unless you'd like to have some kind of dirt on the visor.
Skin tight Hazmat Suit - CBBE ( http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7013 ) : No issue as of v1.2.1
Helmetless Hazmat Suit (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4369) : No issue. As of v1.6, you don't need "clear hazmat helmet" anymore. Please uninstall my mod then update/install Helmetless Hazmat Suit v1.6.
Armorsmith Extended, More armor slots,..: You won't be able to equip armor and hazmat suit. You may not be able to mod/craft it at workbench neither.
"Compatibility patch" will override "Armorsmith extended" behavior (you won't be able to stack armors, etc. It just fix invisible heard parts).

To convert textures:
You'll have to edit "HazmatHelmetNew_d.dds" and set the visor to fully transparent (black on alpha channel).
When using Intel Texture works, always check if transparency is really applied after save (close and re-open file).
So if you work on diffuse maps with alpha (*_d.dds), you'd better save with nvidia DDS Plugin.

What's next?
-Compatibility patchs -> See "Helmetless Hazmat Suit" (seems not to have any issue with Armorsmith extended", etc)
-Photoshop ressources to easily convert textures -> Will probably do.
-Conversion of damaged hazmat helmet (although I don't see the point of wearing a damaged hazmat suit...) -> See "Helmetless Hazmat Suit"
-Conversion of other helmets/glasses (gasmask...) -> For another mod.
-Eventually a proper tutorial to add glass transparency to items... -> Will probably do.
-Sound fx...? I can manage to get good Sfx, but with Fo4 -> virtual audio cable-> DAW -> Mastering suite VST -> speakers. Not very convenient if you can't work with daw (nor CPU friendly). It should be possible to add sfx from power armor, but ... Well, waiting for GECK.

The mod itself won't be updated anymore, just use "Helmetless Hazmat Suit". (I still plan to convert other head parts, like gas masks and glasses, but it will be for another mod.)

(I'm a bit busy now, so don't expect it before feb)

Q&A

*"Transparency?... But... How"?
>Used the flight helmet as a reference... But as the hazmat helmet doesn't have a proper mesh for the visor, I just duplicated the whole mesh to get a glass FX instead of usual textures. Full readme with detailed explanation inside.

*Will you make a compatibility patch for x body/tightening mod?
>Nah. Looks like you've never entered a biohazard lab... The aim of a hazmat suit is to be overpressurized (read: it's a "bibendum" suit).
Type A Hazmat Suit (against biochemical and nuclear agents):
"These suits are typically constructed of several layers and, being airtight, include a release valve so the suit does not overinflate from air exhaled by the SCBA.
The release valve does retain some air to keep some positive pressure ("overpressure") inside the suit.
As noted, such suits are usually limited to just 15–20 minutes of use by their mobile air supply."
(But you can always ask the other mod author to do it.)

Changelog
Pre 0.4:
Using zip format and compression type not handled by windows explorer wasn't very clever... Deleted.

Bugs v0.4:
-Typo on folder names: If you have pink textures, try to rename "Material" folder to "Materials" as suggested by Niliano on comments.
-Invisible helmet: Looks like I've just forgot to pack a material.
-Esp needed for actor head to appear.

Update v0.5:
-Pink textures and invisible helmet should be fixed now.
-Renamed ESP as it is *really* required.
Let me know if you still have issues.

Update v0.5.1
-Attempt to fix incompatibilities with other mods modifying hazmat helmet. Let me know if it works. (This is just an esp, you'll need to install the main file first, and set it after other mods in load order.)

Little (kind of) readme for modders included in main file v0.5 to convert other head wear with opaque parts (gas mask, glasses, ...)

Feel free to use for your own mod, no need to ask me if you can. Just keep it on Nexus and give credits.
