About this mod

Two non-replacer craftable receivers for the unique gun. Or it can make any SMG silver-plated, if you wish.

WHAT IT DOES

Creates two new (non-replacer) silver receivers for the Silver Submachine Gun from the Silver Shroud quest.

Why? Because I was thoroughly underwhelmed by a unique gun that has the exact same bloody parts and stats as an underpowered vanilla weapon, and just a different texture.

One of them you actually get from Kent with the gun, IF you start a new game. The more powerful one, you'll have to craft.

Both can turn any SMG into a silver-plated one, so if you get a legendary SMG off a legendary Triggerman or something, you can move the silver receiver to it. Or if you want to give silver SMGs to all your companions, sure, go nuts.

Anyway, what the Silver Receiver does is:

- slightly increased damage, compared to standard, but not as much as the powerful receiver
- slightly better fire rate than the rapid receiver
- it has a random stagger effect, much less powerful than the legendary ones (so you're not gonna stagger Liberty Prime or anything), but fires much more often for an automatic weapon
- it has a bleed effect too, about half as powerful as the legendary one
- and the REAL kicker, in VATS it shoots 10 round bursts like a minigun, since at this point it actually has slightly higher rate of fire than the tri-gun minigun

The Silver 10mm Receiver has:

- better damage than the powerful receiver
- slightly less rate of fire than the rapid receiver, but more than the powerful receiver. It's really about half-way between the two.
- has the same stagger and bleed effects as above
- SLIGHTLY higher range than the previous one
- it also shoots 10 round bursts in VATS, albeit at the cost of marginally more action points
- changes ammo to 10mm, so the extra power comes at a cost

So it will still be a good weapon outside VATS. Not over the top. Not even endgame rating, in fact. But when you hit VATS and put 10 bullets in someone's head, well, it will do a lot more damage for your AP than a regular SMG, but still less than a Gatling Laser or such, so it's still not particularly unbalanced.

At any rate, you get the idea. I wanted it to be different and relatively powerful, but above all, different. It's not just a +100% damage.

I wasn't actually going to release this, since it involves either messing with the console OR making it craftable and thus non-unique. But then I mentioned it accidentally in a thread and people started requesting it, so here it is. I still dunno how to solve that conundrum, but I'm sure some of you will give me some ideas in the comments.

Made with FO4Edit, if anyone cares about that kinda thing.

HOW TO GET IT

There are 3 ways:

1. Get the normal Silver Receiver from Kent, IF you start a new game. Might also work if you haven't yet been to Goodneighbour, but I haven't tested that.

2. Craft it at any weapons workstation. It just needs Gun Nut level 2 and a bunch of materials, including obviously silver, for the normal Silver Receiver. It needs Gun Nut 3 for the silver 10mm receiver.

3. type

help "silver receiver" 0 misc

or

help "silver 10mm receiver" 0 misc

into the console, use player.additem to give it to yourself. Then just go to any weapons workstation and install it on your gun. You need no materials or perks to install a mod you have in your inventory.

HOW TO INSTALL IT

The state of the launcher being what it is at the moment, namely that it bloody disables mods, your best bet is NMM, unless you know exactly how to do it by hand.

HOW TO UNINSTALL IT

With NMM, or just delete the SilverReceiver.esp plugin from your Data directory.

KNOWN CONFLICTS

It will conflict with anything that changes the SMG weapon record. I had to do that, to make Kent give it to you modded. BUT that won't mess up your game, or anything: just the last loaded mod "wins", and only in respect to the base weapon definition. If you prefer the changes from whatever other mod you have that changes the SMG (e.g., changes the damage), just make that mod load last. You won't get the silver receiver from Kent then, but you can still craft it. That's all.

It is compatible with SMG retextures.

It is compatible with all legendary effects, since it's just a receiver, not a legendary effect.

It is compatible with the "2 Legendary Modifications" mod, but it doesn't make the Silver Submachine Gun you got from Kent take 2 legendary modifications. If you want a silver 2LM SMG, you will need to craft a SMG at the 2LM workbench and then add or move the Silver Receiver to it.

LEGALESE

I release it into the public domain. There's really nothing that original about it, since it uses Bethesda's textures. And I'm not going to start hounding people just because they edited the same entries in FO4Edit or anything.
