About this mod

Removes the annoying 2.5 second glare effect that occurs when transitioning into stealth mode while wearing a Power Armor chest piece with the Stealth Boy mod (should work with the stealth boy device transition as well). This only removes the transition glare effect, you will still show as invisible while standing still.

This is a VERY simple FO4Edit created mod that essentially removes the annoying 2.5 second glare effect when you go into sneak mode while wearing Stealth Boy modded Power Armor.  Why Bethesda thought this was a good idea I don't know, but I can't stand it...  I'm pretty sure the same effect is used when turning on an actual Stealth Boy device, but there seems to be some other effect that triggers and I couldn't see a glare anyways, with or without my mod.

EDIT: I have posted a link to a youtube video I just made that demonstrates the difference my mod makes.  Link is here https://youtu.be/tS40HTdIxOs

EDIT 2: Looks like there is already a mod that does this.  His gets rid of the glare and creates an effect that makes it easier to aim, so overall his is probably better, but I'll leave mine up since I think the name of mine is a little more straightforward as to what it does (I've actually seen his mod in the list but always assumed it was some kind of texture mod or something based on the title).  Though I've not tested his out yet, it is probably more preferable.  Link is here:  http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1886/

EDIT 3: After taking a look at his I will definitely leave mine up.  His initial version has a known problem where it causes mouse issues in the pip screen.  He then made a no glare effect only version (so basically the same as what mine is doing), but he does it in a very different way (he removes the magic effect whereas I leave the effect in place but reduce it to such a small amount of time you can't see it).  I don't know if his method or my method is better, but I'll leave them both up and the public can decide over time.

UPDATE:  Realized I left an unedited file in the esp.  It may have caused the lighting level to change once crouched. There are two modifiers for the stealth boy.  One for the transition (which is what my mod edits) and one for once your crouched.  I've now removed the extra, unneeded file and it may fix any issues that you may have had if you tried it before.

To install this, simply downlad the .rar file (preferably with NMM) and install it just like any other plugin style mod (with NMM that means just activating it in the Mods tab of NMM.  Without NMM or some other mod manager it means unzipping it and putting the .esp file in the Data folder of your game's install directory, then turning on modding by putting the line bEnableFileSelection=1 under the [Launcher] section of your Fallout4Prefs.ini file under your C:\Users\WindowsUsername\My Games\Fallout4\ directory and, lastly, putting the name of the .esp file in your plugins.txt file in your C:\Users\WindowsUsername\AppData\Local\Fallout4 directory (you can also put an entry in your loadorder.txt file if you have one as well).  But seriously, use NMM or at least some kind of mod manager, there really isn't a reason not to...

Compatability

This mod will be incompatible with any mod that modifies the Image Space Adapter setting called "StealthBoyImodTransition".  Before settling on simply reducing the animation duration time, I successfully played around with adjusting the various multipliers and addition settings to simply turn off all of the tweaks that were causing the effect, but realized that it could cause undesirable behavior if another mod in the load order adjusted the world image space settings that these adapters modify (for example, different regions have different image space settings applied to them, then based on different things that happen, like weather, explosions, entering into sneak mode while wearing Stealth Boy power armor, etc..., image space adapters are applied over top of the image space to temporarily modify the image space to create new lighting effects for a certain amount of time). So, I settled on simply reducing the effects animation duration to a negligible amount.  This should allow this mod to be compatible with any other lighting effect mod (except any mod that adjusts this specific effect of course).

One mod that I know would be incompatible with this one would be Climate Tweaks.  Since it adjusts every single Image Space and Image Space Adapter record, including this specific one.  If you have Climate Tweaks then the only way to get mine to work with his would be to use FO4Edit and manually change the duration of StealthBoyImodTransition to 0.000001 just like I did (it would obviously be easier to use his mod and tweak that one setting then use my mod and copy in the hundreds and hundreds of other setting changes that his makes).

If you find any other mods that this either does not work with when loaded before theirs or, theirs doesn't work when loaded before mine, please let me know and I'll look into making a patch for it.  But honestly, you can just download FO4Edit yourself and create the patch yourself.  This kind of basic modding is super stupid easy and you don't need to be smart or even particularly competent to make simple mod patches in FO4Edit.

Safety

This mod should be quite safe since, to be technical about it, I didn't really "remove" the effect, I simply changed the duration of the effect from 2.5 seconds, to 0.000001 second.  Basically it still occurs, but it occurs so quickly that either its too fast for our eyes to capture it or, more likely, its too fast for the lighting engine to even bother rendering it, since I don't even see a flash or any kind of hint that the effect is still there.  So, its as safe as any other FO4Edit mod, which is at least safer than a SNIP tool mod like a lot of people had been using for a while.

If you come across any issues that you think might be attributed to this, please let me know AND PROVIDE SOME INFORMATION.  Don't just say "It doesn't work" or "It corrupted my save!".  Tell me what other mods you have, what the problem actually is, and why you think my mod did it.

This is really just a single setting edit, so I mean, I can't really claim some almighty ownership or anything.  All I ask is that if I helped bring attention to image space modifiers for you and you go on to create something based on this, a mere mention would be nice.  Just like the fact that jet4571 and his awesome Climate Tweaks mod is what made me aware of all the cool things you can play around with to change different lighting and effects in the game engine.

Did you know for example that there are all kinds of cool HDR, Cinematic, and DOF settings that are built into the game engine and can be adjusted for all kinds of scenarios?  You don't even need an ENB or ReShade!  In some ways its a little better than those since you can actually set different settings for each area by modifying the Image Space section, or you can set different settings for events and effects by modifying the Image Space Adapters settings.  Its actually pretty darn neat!  Although I actually do use a ReShade as well since overall there are more options with ReShade and some of its effects are of a better quality, but still, editing the Image Space can allow you to really tweak different aspects of the game exactly to your liking.
