This game's economy needs a lot of balancing, so many things aren't profitable and in the end producing water is always the best choice.
Being a water merchant is awesome but thanks to a bunch of mods and DLCs, you can do more than that.

Here's my contribution:

Free Cage Repairs

  • You don't have to repair cages anymore.
  • Their base price is multiplied by 5.

This means a harsh cost to get the cage but profits are possible in the long run.

What does this mod do exactly?

It modifies the base prices by editing the COBJ of each cage.
It adds the "Repair()" command in "DLC02:WorkshopCageScript" at the very end of the function "OpenCage()".

That's it.

Free Trap Repairs

  • You don't have to repair traps anymore.
  • Because of that, the traps that used to require repairs will now be firing constantly while powered.
  • Their base price is multiplied by 5

Shooting a brahmin with your gun may end up costing you more than the meat's worth.
Using traps to kill these animals would be clever, unless again, it cost you more to repair them than you are getting out of that animal.

This mod fixes that.

What does this mod do exactly?

It modifies the base prices by editing the COBJ of each traps.
Unlike the Cage Repairs, each trap has its own unique script.
Despite that, all it does is add "Repair()" at an appropriate location in each script.

I think it's not working!

Quite possible! Who knows!
Make sure you run NMM as an administrator when you install mods or it may not install scripts and other loose files.

Here's how you can tell if it is working.

Free Cage Repairs

Example:
You captured a brahmin and she's being all noisy inside the cage.
You cut off the power to let it out and kill it (inside or outside doesn't matter)
By that time the cage should have repaired itself.

The cage will repair itself on the same frame that the brahmin is created.
If it doesn't, the script being used is not the one found in this mod.

Free Trap Repairs

Example:

If you had previously fired the trap and require repairs, you will need to repair the trap first.
The radiation emitter would be the easiest to test with.
Now if you hook up power to the trap, in this example the radiation emitter, you will see it fire up and emit radiation, then power down and immediately power back on and emit radiation once again. That entire cycle lasts less than 5 seconds, repeating this cycle over and over again.

In short, if it is repaired, powered and not firing constantly the script being used is not the script provided by this mod. Again, make sure you run NMM as administrator while installing mods or scripts and loose files may not be installed.

Mod Compatibility?

Try it, let other mods take priority in the load order and see if it works.

Free Cage Repairs

It should be compatible with all cage mods that uses the default script (DLC02:WorkshopCageScript).
If your mod spawns two animals instead of one, then yes, it would most likely be incompatible.
In other words, if a mod overwrites the script mentioned above, it will be incompatible with Free Cage Repairs.

If compatible, any new cage should still repair themselves but their prices will not be multiplied by 5 and will instead be the price the modder decided it to be.

Free Trap Repairs

It is most likely incompatible with other trap mods.
Each trap has their own script, which handles a variety of things that modders are likely to modify.
Unless the new traps introduced by mods uses one of the original trap scripts, they will have their own script and therefore will not repair themselves.

I have a suggestion.

Sure, if I'm still around I'll hear you.
Chances are if you want it, somebody else wants it too.
Ain't that a life advice.

I...

Go ahead. I don't care.
You don't even need to mention me.
