Knuckles Weapon Rework
Unarmed combat has long been a staple of the Fallout franchise, giving players the ability to punch people in the face and other places since the very first title. However, just like many other unarmed weapons, Knuckles have gotten little love in Fallout 4; receiving only a handful of mods that marginally increase their effectiveness. Coupling this with a base damage of a meager 10 and a Medium attack speed, the Knuckles are pretty much useless against any opponent once you're level 10+.

However, all that has been rectified with the rebirth of the Knuckle Dusters.

With a attack speed of Fast and dealing 18 base damage without any mods, the Knuckle Dusters are now a fairly useful weapon for close-quarters combat. In addition to these changes, the mods for them have been overhauled and expanded upon as well.

Add-ons are the various implements you can attach to buff damage. There's Bolted (changed from Spiked) which buffs damage by +3 and adds an armor-piercing effect, Tenderizer (previously Puncturing) that bypasses armor and offers +6 damage, Bladed (unchanged) gives +5 damage and causes bleed damage, and finally Spiked (formerly known as Sharp) which inflicts bleeding in addition to +8 damage.

A new mod slot is Materials which alter weight and damage. Brass is the base material and offers no advantages or drawbacks. Steel offers greater damage at the cost of increased weight. Plastic is the complete opposite, offering decreased weight at the drawback of lower damage as well.

In terms of crafting, all mods barring the Bladed and Tenderizer can be made at a Crafting Workbench due to their legitimately makeshift nature while said two would require advanced machinery to produce. However, all mods can be found by level 10 and various enemies throughout the game can already be found with them. Due to the small amount of mods, it should be relatively easy to find the ones you want soon enough.

Future Plans
Unique weapon mods that replicate Knuckles from past games such as Love and Hate from New Vegas and Vlad's Valid Points from Fallout 3: The Pitt. However, these would require custom models in order to implement.

Issues and Bugs
For an unknown reason, the naming conventions don't want to cooperate. This mean any add-on attachment will be overridden by material choice instead of being included. IE: Spiked Steel Knuckles. It's a relatively minor detail but one that's still annoying.

Crafting and equipping may have issues due to unconventional paths I've taken. Originally, I have the Materials being found only but then they wouldn't be listed in the Mod list at all. More testing will be required to see if there's a way to circumvent it without them being visible, maybe just making one of them craftable will a solution to this.

In order to for any Knuckles to have materials attached, they must be found post-mod installation. Otherwise, they will lack a material and it must be manually added via a Crafting Workbench. Starting a new game will guarantee all Knuckles to have materials.

If there are any other bugs or issues, please leave a comment detailing them.

Recommended Mods
There's actually no mods to recommend for the Knuckles, the weapon getting very little love from the community as well it seems. Hopefully, this mod will cause that to change!
