About this mod

Adds Three New NPCs to the game, which can be hired to fight alongside the player temporarily. Some provide safe passage among dangerous factions they are associated with.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
NEW IN VERSION 1.4 Just a simple bugfix update. Fixed an issue where Buzzer's dialogue would sometimes show up on Sarge.

NEW IN VERSION 1.3 Altered a script that played idles when Blaze and Buzzer waited because it interfered with AAF mods. Blaze and Buzzer will now drink a beer and then smoke 1 cigarette when told to stay. As long as you wait until they are done smoking before starting an AAF scene there should be no problems.

While I was at it I decided to give them proper sandboxing, so now they will wander a little while following and use furniture.

Compatible with existing saves, but may need to tell them to follow and stay a couple of times to clear the old anims

:: GENERAL ::

This mod adds three interesting new NPCs to the game, Mercenaries who can be hired as temporary followers for a daily fee. Two of these Mercs provide safe passage with members of their associated faction! This can allow an easier crossing of rough territories for those roleplaying a weaker, but more wealthy character. Another use would be combining this with mods that allow interactions with friendly NPCs expanding those mod's options into Gunner and Raider Territory.

When a Merc is hired, they will follow you for 24 in game hours. At the end of that time you get a message telling you that you'll have to pay to have them continue. They will continue to stick around and provide the safe passage effect for a one in game hour grace period, in order to give you time to rehire them or travel to a safe area. It's best not to wait or sleep for long periods in dangerous areas as it can be easy to miss the grace period!

-BUZZER:
Buzzer is a beginner level merc. He loves using his Ripper which he named "Little Buzzer" to slice and dice. (It may also be his only friend) He's not all that tough, and he's extremely crazy, but he's cheap, and you can always just use him as a distraction... so there's that. Buzzer can be found on the road west of Bedford Station.

-SERGEANT HAMMER:
Sarge is a former Gunner with a troubled past, but he's extremely tough with his cobbled together Power armor and minigun. He's the most expensive merc, but can give you safe passage in Gunner regions due to the respect most of his former comrades still have for him. Sarge can be found searching for his runaway wife at Greygarden Homestead.

-BLAZE:
Blaze is a raider, but don't hold that against her. Her calling in life is burning stuff with her flamer, but she needs your caps to buy fuel! She's happy to be your guide in raider territories, and most of them will leave you alone when you're under big sis's protection, though some places like The combat Zone, and remote groups of raiders will still end in a fight! She even gives you a key to Hangman Alley. Blaze is definitely worth every cap! Blaze can be found near the back (River) entrance to Hangman Alley.

All of the mercs have a few items on them they're willing to share such as a snack, extra ammo, or a basic weapon. Just keep in mind leave Blaze and Sarge at least one ammo or they won't fire.

:: REQUIREMENTS ::
Nuka World

:: INSTALLATION ::
Install with a mod manager, i.e. Nexus Mod Manager or Mod Organizer 2 or manually, just drag the 'DATA' folder in the archive into your Fallout 4 install folder.

:: CONFLICTS ::
There shouldn't be any, I added the Faction alliances with a script, so it shouldn't effect other faction mods. This mod has been cleaned as well.

:: KNOWN BUGS/ISSUES ::
  • Sometimes the forcegreet dialogue doesn't pop up when the mercs first greet you. Just click on them if this happens. Seems to be a vanilla issue.
  • Sometimes Blaze's sandbox package makes her get stuck behind a table near her spawn point, just walk up and hire her. Eventually she'll get loose, or you can fast travel somewhere.
  • You can hire all the mercs at once, but having multiple followers can make the teammate command menu buggy. Just something to keep in mind, seems to be a vanilla issue.
  • This mod can fairly easily be used to exploit the game and make it not fun. I tried to offset this by making Blaze and Sarge fairly expensive. Roleplay responsibly.
