Description

This simple mod makes the player essential, so long as they have a Stimpak in their inventory.

If you have 1 or more Stimpaks in your inventory and your health reaches 0, your character will fall to the ground, similar to companions. After a few seconds, the player will stand back up and use a Stimpak to heal a set amount of their maximum health.

Once you run out of Stimpaks, you will no longer be essential and will die like normal.

Installation

Download a version. install and enable with your mod manager of choice.

Uninstallation/ Updating

Ver. 1.1 and later:

1.
Go to a remote location, hotkey and use the "Uninstall Essential Player" item in the AID category(Should be added automagically. if you don't have it, craft it at a chem lab). Wait for the confirmation box.
2. Open the console and type, "player.recycleactor." this will reset your character.

3. Save your game, and disable the mod with your manager of choice. Reload and save with the mod uninstalled to "soft clean" the save.

Optional: clean your save with FallRim Tools (Look for it in the Skyrim:SE page.).

If Updating: Follow the steps above, then install the new version.

PS: Fully uninstall Essential Player when updating to a new version, else bad things may happen.

PPS: If you want to switch between using the ESL and ESP version of the same release, you MUST do a full uninstall, else bad things WILL happen.

Ver. 1 / Updating to 1.1+ from 1:
1. First, save your game and exit. Disable the EssentialPlayer.esp/esl and uninstall the mod with your Mod Manager.
2. Download and Install/enable the V1 Uninstaller from the Optional Files.
3. Start up your game and load your save(it should tell you that EssentialPlayer.esp/esl is missing, this is good). Wait for the process to finish.
4. Then, open the console and type, "player.recycleactor." this will reset your character.

5. Once done, save and exit again, uninstall and delete the V1 Uninstaller(it won't be needed anymore), then install version 1.1, start the game up, and enjoy!

Compatibility

May be incompatible with other mods that have events occur when the player's health hits 0.

Future Plans

This is the first Script mod that I've ever released.
Right now, this mod is very simple in design. Any form of damage (that includes falling and drowning) will trigger the effects of this mod.
I'm looking into the possibility of adding an MCM entry so that you can tweak the amount of health recovered and various other settings that I might add.
If you have any suggestions on possible new features, please put them in the comments section (I'll try to go and look there more often :P), or send me a message via the Nexus forums.
