I decided to try and make a “clean” settlement - a “beacon of hope for the return of civilization within the chaos of the degenerate wastelands”. I added dog traps to include man’s best friend, as a boost to both happiness and defense. Next thing you know I have multiple dogs and a row of busted-up shabby doghouses. Where are the clean versions to compliment my fine settlement?

I found some replacement doghouse mods (right here), but they were either “lore-friendly” or color re-skins of the existing busted doghouse. So I said to myself (as a typical noob) “How hard could this be?” Probably not so difficult if you know what you are doing.

Much later... and here is the result. Really made for me, but I am happy to share.

Location:
Clean doghouses are found under the “Decorations”>“Miscellaneous” tab of your workshop menu, right next to the standard doghouse.

Install / Uninstall:
Download and install using the mod manager, or manually download the zip file and unzip the mod files into your game’s “Data” folder (preserving the file structure in the zip).

Use the mod manager to uninstall, or delete the mod files from your game’s “Data” folder. Loose files are located under their respective directories in sub-directories named “Phaedrus/CleanDoghouse”.

Requirements:
- Fallout 4 only.
- Wasteland Workshop recommended (if you want multiple dogs), but not required.

Compatibility / Known Issues:
Clean Doghouse does not alter any existing in-game items and is not dependent on any other mods, so it should not have any unexpected side effects.
If you have something strange happen, do please let me know and I will attempt to assist - but no promises! The inner depths of FO4 are still beyond my limited understanding.

History:

For better or for worse, this is all my own work. However, despite having some programming experience I am not a graphic artist, and I found building this to be more difficult than learning a number of programming languages - the lack of comprehensive documentation is just incredible. So, I must give credit to the many other modders out there who have spent countless hours poking through the core game material, testing and re-testing their mods, and who then took the time to share their experiences on line. I do not remember them all by name (there were just too many), but I was particularly impressed by the clarity and usefulness of Elianora’s tutorials. Anyway, hats off to you all! PS: If you want to make a donation, make it to those modders that have really helped the FO4 community, and take this mod with my blessings to them.

Licensing/Legal:
You can do whatever you want with this mod! All I ask is that you give me credit if you distribute it in any way, shape or form, and I would appreciate a “heads-up” if you use any bits of it in your own mods.
