About this mod

Carrying too much and can't run? Never. Again. This mod adds a teleportation-based storage network, and an activation option to teleport corpses, containers, ash piles, and loose items directly to it, saving you loads of inventory juggling.

The main feature of this mod is an alternate activation option when interacting with corpses, containers, ash piles, and loose items that lets you teleport them or their contents directly into a digitized storage network when looting. Once telestored, these items can be accessed from craftable Telestorage Hubs, Mark IV Delivery Bots, and Portable Telestorage Relays, giving you a storage network that is accessible from any settlement or out in the Commonwealth.

Also included are Mark I through Mark III delivery bots, deployed from lightweight, craftable pods when you want to ship some items to a settlement the (relatively) old-fashioned way.

Telestorage Hubs are crafted at settlements, and, once powered, grant access to the telestorage network. They are able to sort items to and from the telestorage network, your inventory, and their associated workshop inventory. They also provide an option to consolidate the contents of all telestorage connected workshops into the local workshop inventory, moving all of your stored stuff (not just the junk) to your current location. They require Science Level 2 to craft. They are found under the Furniture->Containers section of the workshop menu

Mark IV Delivery Bots are crafted at chem stations, and, once deployed, grant access to the telestorage network. When a Mark IV delivery bot is following you, you will have the option to loot items to telestorage. They are also able to sort items to and from the telestorage network and your inventory. They require Robotics Expert Level 1 and either Science Level 3 or a Synth Relay Grenade to craft. They are found under the Utility section of the chem station menu.

Portable Telestorage Relays are crafted at chem stations and grant access to the telestorage network via a holotape terminal interface. When carried in your inventory, you will also have the option to loot items to telestorage. They are a little heavy, but offer an alternative to having a bot follow you around. They require Science Level 4 or Science Level 3 and a Synth Relay Grenade to craft. They are found under the Utility section of the chem station menu.

Mark I through III Delivery Bots are crafted at chem stations and will carry items to a settlement of your choosing. Their crafting requirements are somewhat lower than the crafting requirements for Mark IV Delivery Bots and Portable Telestorage Relays, so they offer an interim inventory management solution for lower level characters. Once sent to a workbench, they will also serve as a local sorting engine, letting you transfer item categories to and from your inventory, telestorage, and the local workbench inventory. They require Robotics Expert Level 1 and V.A.N.S. to craft. They are found under the Utility section of the chem station menu.

Two categories of telestorage are available. All looted items are placed in basic Telestorage. You also have the option to store things by hand in Reserved Telestorage. Both networks are accessible from Telestorage Hubs, Mark IV Delivery Bots, and Portable Telestorage Relays. I usually store unsorted loot in basic telestorage, items I plan to keep in reserved telestorage, and items I plan to scrap or sell in workshop inventories.

When you deploy a bot (equip the bot's "grenade" and throw it where you want the bot to spawn), a quest marker will be added showing you its location on your map. If a bot is killed, you will be notified and its location will be marked on your map, so you can retrieve any items it was carrying.

Compatibility

This mod adds an alternate activation option to corpses, ash piles, containers, and loose items. It will conflict with other mods that add alternate activation options to these items.

There was a conflict with the corpse feeding from cannibalism, so that perk had to be modified to require you to sneak to get that activation option. This mod will conflict with anything that alters the cannibal perks.

This mod is fully compatible with controllers.

Installing

Use NMM to install. It can be installed into a game in progress with no issues.

Uninstalling

Be sure to remove all items from telestorage and delivery bots when uninstalling, or the items will be lost.

Known Issues

Automatic transferring of item categories from the player's inventory to telestorage or workbenches temporarily removes all items from the player, which unequips your weapon and armor, also potentially resetting your hotkeyed items. This feature is currently undergoing testing and may not be functioning properly (save before attempting).

The "ash pile" left behind by destroyed turrets often cannot be telelooted directly, even though the activation option shows up. You'll need to teleloot one of the other destroyed pieces rather than the base.

There is no easy way to get the actor attached to an ashpile. Right now the mod searches around the ashpile for the nearest dead actor, and assumes that's it. It works most of the time, but if the ashpile is in a big pile of corpses, sometimes the wrong corpse will be picked and it will teleloot the wrong body (it will look like nothing happened when you teleloot the ashpile, because all of the stuff will still be there.) If anyone knows of a better way to find the body attached to an ashpile, let me know so I can fix this annoying bug.

Note: This mod is a collection of features from More Complex Wasteland that I've cut out into a separate file and updated. If you are using, or would rather use, More Complex Wasteland, wait for update 1.02 and all the features of Telestorage will be available (let me know and I'll make it a priority, for now I'm waiting for the features here to be shaken down for bugs and issues before I update the main mod). The two mods should not be used simultaneously. New features include:

  • Portable Telestorage Relays
  • Easier crafting requirements
  • Synth Relay Grenade-based crafting options
  • Non-formlist-based sorting and telelooting for patch-free, universal compatibility
  • More robust ash pile and dropped weapon locating during telelooting
  • Destroyed bot quest markers
  • Reserved Telestorage
  • Bots were removed from robot faction to hopefully prevent undesired faction hostility (BOS and Institute will no longer randomly attack them)
